So it looks like the movie "The Woods" was just a cover name for Blair Witch 3.

Attack of the Can't See What's Happening.

If ever there was a movie that didn't need sequels or remakes, it's Blair Witch. It was a nicely self-contained little artifact. Then again, my complete lack of enthusiasm for this might stem from the terrible music and editing in that trailer. Seriously, there's a time and a place for the BOWWWWWWs and the BRAAAAAAHMs, and this was not it.

Adam Wingard is doing this. That's all I need to know.

Did 10 Cloverfield Lane set a precedent for surprise, pop-up franchise flicks?

I suppose when it's low budget enough you can keep a lid on it. It'd be impossible to do a pop-up Superman movie or some such.

This movie looks like crap, just like the original Blair Witch.

I might be tempted to check this out because I love the original, but there's so much going on in that trailer it's ridiculous.
What made the original so creepy was the simplicity of it. In fact it becomes even creepier to me just thinking there's nothing paranormal going on at all, they're just lost in the woods being pursued and tormented by backwoods hicks.

It does look more like Blair Witch than Blair Witch 2: Book of Shadows.
