This end of year list from Rotten Tomatoes seems to suggest the film's title may change.

King Kong: Skull Island?

Might be nothing, of course.

Maybe it has something to do with the movie shifting from Universal to Warner Brothers? I know the various rights to King Kong are a something of a tangle, perhaps initially the movie just used "Kong" in the title because the film was at Universal and Warner Brothers has the full "King Kong" trademark (or at minimum the strongest claim on the trademark).

I thought "Skull Island" was a cool enough title, but apparently movie audiences will not know what the name will mean, so we are going to have Kong's name inserted. They could go with "Kong, King of Skull Island", "Kong, Memoirs of Skull Island", or simply "Loki vs. Kong" (which will probably bring in the masses! ).

Oooh, I kinda like that.

I like the idea of having 'Skull Island' being the main title, because if they make more Kong solo films they can share that title and it'll diferentiate those films from the crossover films, films which will probably also have 'Kong' in the title.

Well, this is cool, the creator of the other long-in-developement "Kong: King Of Skull Island" film has just announced a very cool new book; "KING KONG VS. TARZAN" right in the midst of the new Kong and Tarzan films. The two kings shall clash!!:

Wasn't there a Kong Meets Doc Savage book a while back?

Also: Gormaru Island has being doing a bang-up job rounding up all these reports on the various filming locations and such. They're filming in the world's most spectacular areas, which was exactly the opposite of how '33 and '05 did their fantastical jungle environments (namely, in the studio).

Very encouraging that Godzilla and Pacifc Rim are listed as successful movies for Legendary. Hopefully there won't be any hiccups in the transition.
