Well, we're now five months away from the film. What was the time frame for the first Attack on Titan trailer, again?

Wiki says AoT's teaser landed in March and a full trailer in April for an August release. Grain of salt not included.

^Those were the days! Actually, when I first found out about G2K it was only a couple of months away from US release.

I suppose it's the lack of information that's beginning to drive me up a wall. I understand that marketing in the Japanese film industry is very different from that of Hollywood blockbusters and a full trailer will only come a few months before the film's release... but it's at that point where it's so near yet we've got close to nothing!

- Some guy says Godzilla vs. Pacific Rim is happening after Godzilla vs. Kong
- Rubber figures of Godzilla, Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla, Mothra and Minya are being offered attached to the bottles of some drink
- Everyone takes pictures of the big Godzilla head in Tokyo

UNLESS they make a completely different Godzilla for that universe only.

Also I have a feeling the first footage for Godzilla Resurgence we will see will be through some Japanese talk show with their dumb reactions at the bottom right.

In order for Godzilla vs Pacific Rim to be a thing, Godzilla will have to shift tone (which they could do) over the next two installments to something less grounded. I'm one of the people who always says it's not THAT grounded when people say "How can they do Ghidrah? It's not realistic!!!" Or "Kong doesn't fit because it's not realistic for a monkey to be as big as Godzilla" but I think there's an important distinction between a "realistic" world where insanely unrealistic things like giant dinosaurs and mutant parasites and space dragons exist, and a completely fantastical world where we respond to the existence of these things by building giant robots, teleporting between dimensions and mind-melding with the kaiju.

I'm not saying it can't happen or that I'd NEVER want to see it, but as the two film universes stand right at this exact moment, they don't mesh.

The only way a Godzilla/PR crossover will ever happen is if Pacific Rim 2 gets made and is a very profitable hit. The first Pacific Rim was not a mainstream smash and it's a cult film now, popular among nerds like us but that's about it.

Right now, Legendary is about as likely to blend their Godzilla franchise with Pacific Rim as they are with Snakes on a Plane.
