I bit the bullet and preordered both First Men in the Moon and Journey to the Center of the Earth. I'm not gonna have the non-buyers remorse I have with several of those Media Blasters discs. And like I've said all along, if I decide I don't like them enough to keep them I can probably turn a significant profit on them a year from now...

Also got my used Jason and the Argonauts bluray in the mail and watched it last night. Man I love that movie and the blu looks fantastic! I was also pleasantly surprised to see it comes with The Harryhausen Chronicles in the special features, can't wait to watch that. And I'm glad I was able to find a copy for $14 (incl. shipping) seeing as it apparently went out of print or something recently. Nobody has it in stock anymore and the few copies that are around are going for $40+...

Heck, I see "Jason and the Argonatus" blu-ray at Barnes & Noble for around $14 bucks (and sometimes even less, if there is a percentage sale). Don't understand why it is so expensive at Amazon.

It's not just amazon. It's out of stock at (or was last week) at all the major online retailers, including B&N. The only places that still had it when I ordered were Amazon and Ebay, both for $40+ and one of the asian sites (play asia or yes asia or something) for around $30. I stumbled across some video game store in the Dakota's that had an online store with one used copy for sale, so that's what I got.

As for First Men in the Moon, preorder .

Hmmm... considering I've only had Blu-Ray for four years or so, I'll bet Jason and the Argonauts is one of my most viewed discs. I know I've watched the movie at least three times and The Harryhausen Chronicles a few times on top of that.

Chronicles was my intro to Ray as a kid, so I was delighted it was there.

Well, after finding out when I got my tax return that the BDs to Gundam Unicorn I still needed are out of print, I decided to spend my money on something else that I have been wanting for some time, but kept putting it off because I didn't want OO and MF.

EDIT: What the hell is going on? There is nothing in the tags to make it do that.

MOD-EDIT: Just removed the tags for now. Feel free to keep trying to get it to work if you want, but at least this way people can click to the links.

On Tuesday I stopped by Wal-Mart and picked up the new Alvin Show blu-ray combo pack for , ($25 MSRP). It's 3 episodes of the original Alvin Show, and includes a sneak peek at the upcoming new Chipmunks cartoon (set to run on Nickelodeon I believe). I thought about holding off, but as the original show only has 26 episodes hopefully the blu-ray release will prove to herald a complete release of The Alvin Show (in either one set or split into two 13 episode releases).

An Amazon reviewer says it's episodes 1,4, and 10 but the individual segments (as posted by Rugratskid on Blu-ray.com) aren't in sync with the listings on the Wikipedia article. Don't know why the difference; could be the Wikipedia info is wrong or maybe the show was recompiled into different sets/episodes over the years. Here segments in the 3 episodes:

Stanley the Eagle
Oh Gondaliro
Crashcup Invents the Baseball
I Wish I Could Speak French

Ostrich
The Brave Chipmunks
Clyde Crashcup Invents the Baby
Yankee Doodle

Overworked Alvin
Witch Doctor
Clyde Crashcup Invents Flight
The Chipmunk Song

Was out at Sam's Club today, and found G.I. Joe: Resolute for . I'd held off on picking this up for a long while now hoping that we would get a blu-ray release, couldn't pass it up for 5 bucks especially when it seems that no HD release will show up anytime soon.

Yeah, I think at this point, we will never see Resolute on BD. Sucks too as that movie is by far the best GI Joe animated story ever.

I got Young Frankenstein, and Dragon Ball Seasons 1 and 2 a few weeks back.
Dragon Ball is one heckuva nostalgia trip. Such a fun show.

Memento has a touch of a noir-ish feel to it. I like when stuff goes a little beyond the norm and thinks outside the box. Like Stephen King's best horror movies/novels. He lists some distinctly non-horror stuff because, well, he provides reasons and rationale.

They do have No Country for Old Men and Blade Runner in there, but none of the others you mentioned. However, there is in the back a list of ever Noir movie ever released from 1920 through the day the book was published, but I hvaen't looked at the names they have listed, so they might be there.

Decided to get this for my birthday. Another addition to my Beatles video collection and to remember the late great Albert Maysles.

Twilight Time is having a sale today.

Thing is, because of the ticking clock of being limited editions it makes me want to buy movies I don't know if I would otherwise. I mean, Harryhausen? Sure! Journey to the Center of the Earth? Sure? The Hammer version of Hound of the Baskervilles and the Gregory Peck Moby Dick? Those are coming out later this year and I'm certainly going to preorder them on day 1!

But do I need Bye, Bye Birdie on Blu-Ray? I mean, I like a few of the songs a lot, especially the telephone song in the begging and that 'Sincere' song Birdie sings. I like Dick Van Dyke, but I really do not like Ann Margret. Do I need an HD copy of this movie? But, OMG there's only 200 copies left! I find myself asking just how big a fan I am of movies like Bell, Book and Candle and Inherit the Wind. They're good movies, and feature actors I adore, but are they really movies I'll rewatch again and again?

I'm this close to getting the Thuderbirds Are Go/Tunderbird 6 double feature, though. I mean, it's actually quite a reasonable price for 2 movies and it's comprised almost entirely of cool miniatures. I vaguely remember seeing Thunderbirds on TechTV and liking it.

The only thing Twilight Time sells that I would want is The Big Sleep, but that is OOP.
