A lot of good close ups in this review

some interesting comparison to the NECA towards the end of this one

I knew about the sloppy teeth paint, wonky eyes, face sculpt, face paint, and feet sculpt, but i am struck by how wide the stance is. I have yet to see one of these G'14 figure that look film accurate from the front due to the leg spacing.

There's a good bit of range with the legs there, and it's height is really variable due to the various poses he can be put in. My favorite probably has to be the leg and tail articulation.

The buildings, and Japan Self Defense Forces sets have been released this weekend, and pics are starting to show up.

It is the year 2014. We can do better than linking to Facebook reuploads at a lower resolution.

http://nov.2chan.net/y/res/3180989.htm

Super X III looks fine, not sure about the complaint, but I could've missed something. Seeing that the explosion is an entirely separate, swappable piece is very nice, probably not unlike the Tamashii Explosion Effects coming out next year, not to mention being compatible with the previous beams. Also gives a good comparison between the two beams included in the effects set, and how the pale color and the silver paint help the brighter one pass off as a generic beam. The piss-yellow look is mainly only present in the reused base color. Bad for urination jokes, good for repurposing for use with... something.

I am seeing that the paint is a little more green than the original set. I think the Super X3 has a glossy finish which is making the paint app look a bit more green. Could be the white balance on that persons camera though. I've got several of these on order, so I'm stoked to build a mini army.

It's not the shade of green I was complaining about. It's the complete and utter lack of any detail paint other than one blob of red for the windscreen (that they didn't even seperate into the three or four seperate windows, even though it's sculpted properly...)

I really have and don't see a problem with the head sculpt or the sculpt for this figure in its entirety. That's not the same as saying there aren't problems (the piss ass paint job for the teeth, eyes, and snout).

More custom paint job! Decided to work the rest of Godzilla 2014's underside. And a few bonus pics

Do you mean aside from the eyes? IF so, the head is not movie accurate.

Don't get me wrong, the sculpt is amazing and the detailing is incredible. I love the way the fins are done. However, if I buy this figure, I am telling Bandai it is okay to half ass their figures and I am not willing to do that this time.

You're free to do whatever you want with your money as a consumer, and if you think Bandai will get the message by losing out here then hopefully they'll change their QC (who knows maybe they'll be nicer to the people in their factories overseas).

But what we're saying is we don't see the big problem with the head sculpt. We're not even arguing the paint job to the face at this point, nor have we, something you ignored for three straight pages. I'm not seeing how the head sculpt "half assed", as its more of a design choice. Seeing as this is more of a stylized figure, more than anything I think it improves the movie design by adding physics to the thing. Musculature, gravity (the way the feet are spread open).

Its like they based the face off an older prototype or something. Definitely not suit accurate for the film. I would have preferred they didn't deviate on the head or the feet.

We are all aware of the piss poor job on the face paint job. No one is defending that. NO ONE You're the only one bringing it up even after we clearly all agreed it was horrible, since XVGojira nor I were not talking about the paint apps in the first place but the head sculpt, something XV and I had no problems with.

It's like talking to a wall here. Though it makes sense since you're considering you're a self admitted stubborn wall. I find Naruto65 much more graceful in it. :?

Now that we're hopefully have this all cleared up, we can move onto something more interesting? I hope?

Speaking of graceful

^^^ I love me an ambitious diorama. And I hope to top that come December.

^^^ Nice to see I'm not the only one who thought that.

^^^ The explosion part looks really good here. Backdrops that I want aren't easily available though...

Time to make use of my Bob Ross lessons it seems...

From watching the video reviews and seeing some comparison photos (which were mostly full figure shots) the biggest difference with the head is that SHMA's seems to be bigger than NECAs. That's something I'm fine with, the small head was one of the quibbles I have with the design, but I understand why some wouldn't. There wasn't enough of a focus on details of the head sculpt for me to notice differences aside from size.

I'm still getting this figure, other than the paint applications, I do have any issues with it. All the alterations, bigger head and wider/longer feet, are an improvement on the "suit" design. I wouldn't mind if they made little alterations like that in the design for the second movie, but chances are that won't happen.

I'm in that camp- I had issues with the Godzilla design used in the film, and the SHMA pretty much remedied all of those issues for me. For that, the figure is a win in my book.

Meh, when Bandai apologizes and promises to replace the heads, then I will forgive them for the piss poor job on the 2014 G.

On the positive side, Gamera looks awesome, but I'll wait until I see people's reviews of him before I even bother getting excited.
