I am kind of annoyed now..

This week is Phx Comic Con.. I was supposed to be there yesterday but I had to go out of town for family reasons.. today I had work, and I thought after work I would be able to attend - that didn't happen. I had some drama come about at home concerning more family matters and now I don't think I'll be able to attend today. I could attend tomorrow but my friends will only be there until 3p and I get off work at 10:30a.. So it really doesn't give me a whole lotta time.. :(

Scenario:

In front of you, on a table is a $20 bill, a GPS, an MP3 player, a credit card, a $60 leather belt, several phone chargers and USB cables, a box of ammo, and a backpack large enough to carry ALL of this. You have no time limit and no this isn't a trick question: What do you take?

If you're answer is ANYTHING other than "I throw it all in the backpack and walk away" then congratulations, you're just as dumb as the moron who broke into my car and ONLY took the GPS.

Just thieves that want to use it to back trace to your "home" so they can steal the big stuff while they know you're out.

I don't have my "home" saved in my GPS.

I use it for LONG drives, so I can have directions and still be able to talk on my phone and/or save my phone battery.

I had to fire a guy today. It sucked.

Really nice guy, but he just wasn't good at his job and after I'd given him warnings, he still sucked. I hated it since he was a nice kid.... but you gotta do what you gotta do, I guess.

i tried that with Comcast... but they are the only game in town, so they smugly responded "Thank you for choosing Comcast!" which really made me angry... so now i live with DSL which is literally 15x slower

I always had good luck with ATT u-verse. I've had two cell phone accounts with ATT for 8 years (well, one of them for about 16 or 17) and when I walked in to sign up for u-verse internet the salesman looked up my accounts and said that he could get me some good discounts. I wound up getting the fastest internet speed they had for $20 a month, and that was not a promotional rate that would expire. I also had my rate go up on my cell phone bill recently and called att. They offered me a different plan that more than covers our average monthly usage and cut our bill from about $140 down to $90 a month. But yeah, just go talk to them at the ATT store or call their customer service. They're the only provider I've ever used that I've actually complemented their customer service.

Comcast on the other hand is the spawn of satan. I moved about a year ago and am no longer in an area served by U-verse so I had to switch. Had to pick between comcast or consolidated for internet. Comcast had the faster speeds and decent promo rates so I got them. Just getting the service connected was a ridiculous ordeal with multiple service calls and waiting at the house for a guy to show up sometime in an 8 hour window... Cause, you know, I don't have to work or anything... It took them two weeks just to get it set up correctly. Then my bill went up after 6 months and again after a year. Each time I called them and they gave me the same crap about "oh well if you want to upgrade your service or add additional services we can give you a new promo rate for 6 months..." But even with a new promotion adding or upgrading services still resulted in a net INCREASE to my bill, even after the price hike took effect. After the second price hike I gave them one try to find me a lower rate and then I dropped them like a bad habit. Now I've got Consolidated internet. So far they haven't been much better than comcast, but hey, at least I'm not giving comcast any more money. Never again. I think I'd add an ATT mobile hotspot to my house or something before I dealt with comcast again.

I have zero issues with Comcast's internet service.

Their cable, on the other hand....

^ Yeh, we have DirecTV which is only partnered with DSL where i live... and DSL is questionable for streaming, we get plenty of buffering with sub-HD video ... but the whole reason i complained was the same as canofhumdingers where i had been a Comcast customer for 8 years, but when i moved i spent over a month with no internet or television and they stood me up twice(!!!) when i took off work a full day off of work each time so they could turn it on... i was trying to get a third installation date set up (in hopes that the technician wouldn't cancel without notice a third time in a row) when their customer service started treating me like garbage. I SHOULD have demanded to speak to a manager at that point instead of hanging up in a rage. Every time i get frustrated with my DSL speeds and think about going back to Comcast, the memory of that experience makes me say "Forget them, i am not giving them my money"

Ok, so being the clutz I am.. I went to my local theater thinking Godzilla had a 11a showing and it turns out I read it wrong online (it had a 10a showing).. I feel so sad.. the next one is at 1:20p and I don't know if I'll be able to do that one. So I think I'm going to have reschedule for tomorrow.. damn.. Good thing I have a day off tomorrow. So sorry, not really a sh*tty day by any means.. but still.

Cable is always going to provide better speeds then DSL though DSL could be better if you live closer to where it's coming from the closer you live the better speeds you get but since it's still running off phone lines you won't get speeds anywhere near what you could get with Cable. Ideally Fiber would the better option as it is Gigabit internet but it's in such a small area now, only like 20 cities in the US have it.

I've had Charter for my broadband internet now for about 12 years and when ever they higher the rates you just call them up and tell them you'll cancel and they'll lower the rates. I think my cousin and I could get AT&T Uverse and I could bundle it with my cell phone plan but the highest speed they offer is still lower then what we're getting with Charter.

True about Fiber you are, Tom. I've been on their email updates and apparently my area in Phoenix should have Fiber sometime late 2014/early 2015. I won't hesitate for a second to switch. Don't use cable anymore so I'd gladly drop it anytime.

I'd love to get Fiber myself but my area is always slow to adopt well the town I used to live in is. We didn't get broadband in our area until 2001 and that was DSL, then cable internet became available in 2002. My current city may get fiber within the next five years but I don't see it happening.

It'd be awhile before Fiber picks on. It's really only doing a test in service. than replacing any company at the moment.
