I always had good luck with ATT u-verse. I've had two cell phone accounts with ATT for 8 years (well, one of them for about 16 or 17) and when I walked in to sign up for u-verse internet the salesman looked up my accounts and said that he could get me some good discounts. I wound up getting the fastest internet speed they had for $20 a month, and that was not a promotional rate that would expire. I also had my rate go up on my cell phone bill recently and called att. They offered me a different plan that more than covers our average monthly usage and cut our bill from about $140 down to $90 a month. But yeah, just go talk to them at the ATT store or call their customer service. They're the only provider I've ever used that I've actually complemented their customer service.
Comcast on the other hand is the spawn of satan. I moved about a year ago and am no longer in an area served by U-verse so I had to switch. Had to pick between comcast or consolidated for internet. Comcast had the faster speeds and decent promo rates so I got them. Just getting the service connected was a ridiculous ordeal with multiple service calls and waiting at the house for a guy to show up sometime in an 8 hour window... Cause, you know, I don't have to work or anything... It took them two weeks just to get it set up correctly. Then my bill went up after 6 months and again after a year. Each time I called them and they gave me the same crap about "oh well if you want to upgrade your service or add additional services we can give you a new promo rate for 6 months..." But even with a new promotion adding or upgrading services still resulted in a net INCREASE to my bill, even after the price hike took effect. After the second price hike I gave them one try to find me a lower rate and then I dropped them like a bad habit. Now I've got Consolidated internet. So far they haven't been much better than comcast, but hey, at least I'm not giving comcast any more money. Never again. I think I'd add an ATT mobile hotspot to my house or something before I dealt with comcast again.
