The best character of the bunch was Young Professor X. Also, the Quicksilver stuff was both hilarious and heaviliy amusing, especially the little self-reference during the elevator scene. This movie rocked.
Saw it today. Easily the best X-Men movie since X2. And my favorite X movie overall. Loved Quicksilver and James McAvoy once again played an excellent Young Charles Xavier. Looking forward to X-Men: Apocolypse.
Honestly, I think something was changed anyway in the timeline because Mystique was obviously never captured to be experimented on in the X1-3 timeline.
A little grimdark serious, a little too haphazard and frenetic at the start, and a couple of continuity errors that were GRATING (Wolverine had adamantium claws in the future...c'mon...this movie acknowledges the events of X3 but ignores The Wolverine?), but this was a good to great X-Men film.
Probably better than X2 (we'll have to see how it holds up) but not as good as First Class.
I'd say my only gripes with this movie is there's no explanation for how Shadowcat can send people back in time, no explanation for how Xavier got his old body back, and (this is pretty minor), but the future sentinels reminded me a bit too much of the Destroyer from Thor. It would have been so cool if they were designed more like Nimrod from the comics.
