Godzilla (2014) Part Three (NON-SPOILER DISCUSSION)

Not sure if I want to go to a theater with Dolby Atmos or a smaller theater that has leather recliners and serves cocktails.

Here's the other reason, Atmos equipped theater is 250 seats, at 3D ticket prices which I assume they will be showing at midnight, it will cost me $4500.

The smaller Cinepolis theater has 40 seats at $25, or $1000.

On the one hand me and my 30 guests would eliminate 10 people from seeing the movie, the other one would keep 210 people out. Now, the reality is that most people would be fine in attending my first screening of the movie, my problem is that I want to keep out as many self important, self entitled fans who could ruin the experience for me.

So I think I'll go with a smaller screen for my first screening then go to the Atmos equipped theater for a subsequent screening with the common folk. That way if I hear anyone "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!", my experience will not be ruined.

Yep, that's the ticket, and I've already put an inquiry to rent out the smaller theater.

The thing with a smaller theater that serves stuff is that I want my first viewing of this film to just be me staring at a screen. I want as few people walking around and asking about drinks and delivering my bill and whatnot as possible.


Though given Alamo Drafthouse's history with regards to doing fun events and stuff for release days of highly anticipated films, I'll likely be seeing it there.

The good thing is they do not come to your seat unless you ask so I'll preorder my cocktail and food and then banish them the rest of the movie.

While I'm sure the experience is much better in your set up mrbluehair, I'll have to settle for the first showing at one of two local theaters in my area on that Thursday night. There have been few times when I've been annoyed at people during a movie...hoping this isn't one of them.

The worst are the full blown conversations during a movie, but that is pretty rare.

Walmart will be promoting Godzilla...There was a huge cardboard display at the one near me..It had the toys, napkins,cups, posters etc..

Also they will be selling tickets to the 5/15/14 showings for participating theaters...They will be sold starting 4/15/14..
