Hey Tyler,
I work in the media industry. I've personally authored hundreds of retail Blu Ray and DVD disks- a couple of which you may even own.
By definition, a telecine is when a new print is converted to digital and then taken into the color correction house for final mastering.
You're in-f*cking-correct. Period.
They're brand spanking new scans- probably sourced at 2.5 or even 4K.
If you can discern film grain on the new disks- you're wrong. I'm going to make sure to come back to this topic and post some screen grabs here to rub it in come May. That way, the next time that you carry on like this, people can just post pictures of film grain to shut you up while making cheesy jokes about how you should stop feeling like you need to go against the grain.
