I have never seen the Japanese version of “KKE”, but I’ve heard Eisei Amamoto speak, and his voice was higher pitched. How affective it was for this movie, I really don’t know. Paul Frees’ voice on the other hand, was much lower, or at least he could make it that way, and as a result, Dr. Who sounded quite menacing.
If I had ever wanted to see the Japanese version, it is only because of comparing and contrasting between Amamoto and Frees (and both combined, did a great job as Dr. Who).
And it just occurred to me that I’ve met three actors from this film – Akira Takarada, Susumu Kurobe and Haruo Nakajima (unfortunately no Linda Miller!
).
