I know what I give and its not a...nevermind. Back on topic the new Godzilla Jakks figure. Ever notice the brown spot on its chest. Anyone wonder they'll have something like that on the actual Godzilla. Like maybe his stomach is a lighter color?

The toy definitely looks very simplistic. The head/body ratio is still a little off, but I'll live. The spines I'm more concerned about how bland they look, not the size. Many of the other children Godzilla toys had more elaborate spines just like the movies. If these spines are just like the movie but smaller, that would be disappointing.

GINO had a pretty damn good ad campaign, just word of mouth killed the movie.

Ahhh, it's a toy....a Jakks toy!!! The spines are smaller and simplified for safety, production simplicity and durability. Of all the things shown in the trailer the spines are the most pronounced thing and they are larger and more intricate so I wish people would stop worrying so damn much about how a toy looks given when we have seen in the first trailer.
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!

Kinda hard to see the spines under all that dust in the trailer. But now that you mention it, it probably was more elaborate than the toy.

I kinda hope they do something really big after the super bowl.

But what could they do bigger than the super bowl?

It's not about being BIGGER than the Super Bowl, that's asinine to even attempt. ANY movie would be absolutely THRILLED to reach an audience half the size of the Super Bowl. Over 100million people watch the Super Bowl in the US alone. At an average ticket price of $10, that'd be a billion dollars right there.

You don't want to out-do the Super Bowl, you want people to remember that your movie exists, and IMHO, putting out a 30 second to 1-minute ad in the midst of a game that is the biggest event of the year while people have money on the game or are trying to see the next funniest commercial EVAR is a waste of money. Dropping a movie trailer amid the Super Bowl is, to me, the equivalent of dropping a Super Bowl ad in front of a Lord of the Rings film. Nobody cares.

You can't out-Super Bowl the Super Bowl.

I have that exact "X-Plus" Godzilla except it is resin and not X plus brand. I wonder if the store I got it from on Ebay makes the hard molds for these and they make early knock off versions of it.

I'm hoping we get something like this for G'14.

I think (if Feb 7th pans out), it's way smarter of WB to let the SB ads get overshadowed by the game and the glut of marketing that hits in that tiny time frame and follow up with their own trailer that stands on its own after the commercial blitzkrieg is over. Another poster stated earlier, that's basically what they did last time being the last big trailer to hit in comparison to its release date competition. It worked, Godzilla made bigger waves than Spiderman or Xmen last go around, no reason it won't work again. It will also give it the bonus of being the freshest in peoples minds.

I remember the Star Trek into Darkness trailer from last year, but A) that was last year and B) I was looking for it.

I found another article that explained a whopping 70% of the Super Bowl audience doesn't remember movie trailers. It went on to explain how Paramount wishes they hadn't put a TV spot for Trek on last year because there's no way to provide proof of a return for the massive dough spent on these spots. Wish I could re-find that.

Just because they don't remember the trailer doesn't mean that they didn't see it and talk about it. It's about building general awareness more than it is getting butts directly in the seat. Not that I think that Super-Bowl ads have a good bang for their buck necessarily, more that with social media its much easier to effectively use your marketing budget to target the right audience than just shooting a shotgun into the wild and hoping that you hit your intended targets.

Nobody talks about the movie trailers during the Super Bowl. Not ever in my experience.
