Every internet discussion will eventually descend into someone being called Hitler.

And every Godzilla internet discussion will eventually descend into talking about GINO.

Which was bad, by the way.

Denial can be ones ally, no?

It was and still remains a Godzilla movie. You can try and convince yourself it wasn't but it was. Your first trailer isn't going to say "Guess Who's Coming To Town?" Unless it's something well known.

I'm not defending the film, I thought it was awful.

But to those who keeping bringing up this sudden Zilla business, no. It's a Godzilla movie made by 2 people who had no clue about Godzilla to begin with and managed to convince Sony they knew what they were doing.

While I have some issues with the story, Jan DeBont's aborted Godzilla film would have made a much more enjoyable movie.

Godzilla, like Batman, is a character blessed with multiple interpretative possibilities – though the most traditional and most popular version is a dark, city-stomping, ambivalent, anti-hero bad@ss.

GINO was not that (and the only reason I'm saying GINO is because it comes more naturally to me)…but neither was Godzilla in the late 60's, early 70's. If you dismiss GINO as "Not Godzilla", then you have to do the same with the Saturday morning, planet-saving superhero from the late Showa films.

GINO is still a valid interpretation of Godzilla – just one nobody liked then or wishes to see repeated.

As for the movie itself…I honestly don't see why anyone would be entertained by a giant, pregnant iguana who hangs out in a subway for 2 hours. For two filmmakers known for their kitchen sink approach, this picture was ridiculously constrained.

Rumor has it that the creature in the Comic-Con teaser is called "Talaghan" and was named by none other than Bryan Cranston.

Keep in mind this is a rumor.

And considering the source here, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

:/

I'm apprehensive about its legitimacy, but if real, it looks like a lame toy. No qualms with the design. Just the toy.

Eh, the toy is alright, but the blue ray confirmation is awesome.

Edit: someone at TK shared this link- http://www.cineplex.com/Movie/godzilla

Supposedly Godzilla is 90 mins long. How they know I am not sure. Take with a Grain of salt I guess.

It's likely just a placeholder. I doubt even the filmmakers know the exact length at the moment, given that they've still got several months of post-production left before they have to lock in the final edit.
