What do you imagine happened to showa goji?

Pretty sure there was a whole thing where one of the artists wanted to use a Showa era suit and was denied because Toho's "official appearances" are now the Heisei and Millenium looks.

I hadn't heard that but it wouldn't surprise me. They did have a Showa suit on at least one of the covers

I like to imagine showa goji died years after Minya finally grew up into the adult godzilla and protector he was always meant to be. I also picture a giant monument being errected at the site of his death calling him out as both a punishment for mankind's foolishness and eventual protector of the world. Peace among the earth kaiju and humans is finally achieved for the protection of the planet as a whole.

i think Showa Godzilla died in a spectacular battle taking out multiple enemies as his final act... then in modern times a child finds an egg which hatches an adorable baby Minya that the kid tries to hide from his dad despite the challenge that it just keeps growing!

I like to think of Godzilla as functionally immortal. I figure he outlives the human race, and goes out with the planet itself.

Godzilla gets blown in the space by a nearby super-nova star. Spends the next billion years floating through space before being captured by a star only to be sucked in by its gravity to spend the rest of eternity being crushed by the gravity of the star in its core.

Well when I first saw TMG and Godzilla waving goodbye, to me he seemed to have found his purpose in life and went to open a school of thought on Monster Island.

Godzilla continued to show up until the Futurians messed with time and completely eliminated the second Godzilla from existence until 1984.

While we don't know what happened in-between Terror of Mechagodzilla and Destroy All Monsters, DAM seems to show earth's monsters living somewhat comfortably, away from human harm (and harming humans), on Monsterland. I imagine Godzilla is busy taking care of the still growing Minilla.

Godzilla had to go back to his home planet because he was dying of diabetes.




...no, really, that's what happened. Doesn't matter if the movie never got made, the story still got published. So it's still canon as far as I care.

Also, as should be obvious, the Godzilla in DAM is a grown up Minilla, and the Minilla in DAM is a second baby Godzilla, probably the Showa timeline's version of Junior, who, if you'll remember, hatched in 1994, just five years before DAM takes place.
