^Sanda and Gaira would make convincing human/Godzilla hybrids.

I hope they delve into the scientific advances that could come from studying/obtaining samples of such a creature, would lend a lot of verisimilitude. You know in reality if something with such indestructible and regenerative properties truly existed the scientific and business communities would be all over it.

Big screen adaptations of Sanda and Gaira would be orgasmtastic.

It'd be interesting for King Ghidorah to behave like the Gryphon from the USA '94 script: comes down in a meteor, essentially bodiless, and begins absorbing lifeforms it comes across until it becomes its final form.

I mean: snake head, bat (like) wings, fur. It could work.

I love all of Mechagodzillas incarnations but I really truly hope they leave him out of this series. I personally can't see how it would come off as at all plausible in the more grounded setting they say they're going for. I think something like Moguera would come off as far more believable.
Huh? That doesn't make much sense to me. They are both giant kaiju fighting mechs, which make them just as ungrounded as the other. Besides, marketing-wise, if a giant mech is brought into the new series and isn't a new creation, it's going to be Mecha-Godzilla. No one knows who Moguera is.
I should have clarified that at least the way it looks to me, design wise Moguera would be more functional, harder to knock over and present fewer engineering issues.

If Edwards & Legendary are going to try and keep this new potential franchise at least somewhat grounded in reality then I think the most logical type of anti-kaiju weapon would be something akin to the Super-X2. Granted, it's no where near as visually cool-looking as Mecha-Godzilla, but as others have said in this thread and elsewhere, the idea that anyone would go to the trouble & outrageous expense of engineering a mechanical duplicate of Godzilla is, in all honesty, just plain silly. It would be a lot easier for NON kaiju-nerds (i.e. the general public) to swallow the concept of an all-terrain tank-type vehicle that's armoured to the max and packed with the latest, most powerful weaponry available, than a robot doppleganger of Godzilla. A hovercraft design like the Super-X makes even more sense as it is much more manuverable than a traditional ground-based attack vehicle like a tank, since it combines air & water combat capabilities, too. Heck, even Atragon would be more "believable" than an anthropomorphic mech character like Moguera or Mecha-Godzilla. But don't get me wrong, I love Mecha-G. It would be a real treat to see him in this new universe - even if it was just an easter egg to fans... perhaps a "design concept" blueprint / schematic that we see in pinned to a wall or displayed on a monitor in the background in a lab or military command center. The camera pans past and shows the design, but a miltary general or lead scientist type character dismisses the idea as far too expensive, etc.

Part of this will really depend on how the movie plays out.

I don't think a "grounded" Godzilla reality opens the door for MechaGodzilla, and I'd rather see organic kaiju anyway...not say MG wouldn't be awesome.
Well it could go the sci-fi route with space apes making the mechanical double.
Hmmm... so much for keeping it grounded in reality! LOL!

On another note, I just found out that my local theater is NOT showing the G-teaser before Hobbit. What the...? At least now I know so that I can avoid those losers and go elsewhere! (Wonder if theaters will tell you what trailers are showing before a particular feature???) :?
