Just watched the Japanese trailer…which got me thinking.

When the movie starts – WB logo…Legendary logo…Toho logo?

Yes?

I kinda want the Toho logo to appear before the movie starts in both editions.

No clue how valid this is, but Kaiju Cavalry at TK linked the supposed prototype Godzilla toy he found tagged on Tumblr -

Edit:

I tried linking the pics directly but it doesn't appear to be working.

Not a fan of the stumpy feet as well, but I like the overall shape of the body and head and pretty much everything else!

Thats been my only complaint since we first saw the "bearzilla" - I just don't get the feet. It sounds so nitpicky, and I honestly don't care, i just find it odd.

Feet look ridiculous, and the face looks like a square jawed old man, imo. Can't hold a candle to the Bio-Goji design.

Hope that's not the finished product. I just don't understand why it's so hard to make a decent design for Godzilla. Why a square jaw and short snout? Why the goofy feet? Why gills, if they are there?

Was watching some clips of G vs King Ghidorah the other day and that suit design and roar was so far superior to what it looks like we'll be getting, it just makes no sense.

Legendary has all the money in the world to make a great design and that's the best they can do?

Fans should "nitpick" crappy design choices. And the way Godzilla looks will have a huge impact on how the film performs. As soon as the legit G98 design leaked, that film was destined to flop.

It looks close to what we've seen in the other encounter prototypes and the little we've seen from the trailer. I kids like it, but non-assembled it's hard to tell. Also you see the gills/ribbed neck clearly... I actually like the texturing, obsolete or not.

I wouldn't say this design is "crappy" so much as it is not to your tastes. Edwards has said they've looked at all the past Godzilla designs in putting this one together, which is more than Devlin and Emmerich attempted. And it shows. His face definitely has resemblances to Heisei Godzilla and G'85 (hell, the first image of Godzilla from the SDCC Encounter event was mistaken as a still from G'85 on Tumblr).

There might be some sort of logic in their choice of his feet, I dunno, but I will say I'm not a fan (i.e., I'm not gonna blindly praise the design.) I do, however, think I can get used to them.

Edit link is working again.

Also, behind the toy you see some instructions... Maybe that is Godzilla's foe? Spidery legs..

We all have our "perfect" Godzilla. Mine has fangs and a long snout. But I like what Legendary has done.

Stubby feet make me sad, however.

I like it. It's godzilla, but not exactly like every other design.

Also, I edited my post above but check out the instructions behind the toy - is that the other monster?

On the flip-side, the GINO design did represent what was wrong with that interpretation – he was a whiny, scrawny little b!tch.

Or she was.

Or whatever.

I like the design. It also looks like something that could easily be a guy in a suit if it were a Toho movie. The feed also solve the problem of the clown shoes phenomenon that happened with all the Godzilla suits. It would be sturdy and stomp stuff without the toes curling up.

It looks like a Toho Godzilla though. He is a chunk though.

I posted this over on Toho Kingdom and wasn't sure if it'd already been mentioned here, but Max Borenstein commented on Godzilla's atomic breath on Twitter:

I get real tired of the "its not bio-goji so it sucks" argument. This design is solid. Real solid. The feet strike me as odd, but Its not going to ruin the movie for me.

I never liked the enlarged eyes in Son of Godzilla, and that movie is great. Its still Godzilla.

.

One thing for sure is, he doesn't got bark scales but standard-ish reptilian/dino scales.

My only two small nitpicks are the feet, which seems to be universal, and I wish the spines were a bit bigger, not enormously so just a little bit.
