The high water mark of roars crested at 84, 89, 91. Anything at this point needs to live up to that roar for me to be really blown away. I don't think this roar does, but it's at least acceptable.

I'd be willing to bet the reason we didn't get the Oppenheimer trailer is that the red lizard-pede is either not in the film, or significantly altered to the point that nothing very much like it will appear in the film, and...you know what? it was just a proof of concept thing shown to the producers and potential investors, never meant to be a trailer/teaser at all.

Complaining about its absence is like complaining that they didn't find a way to turn the Godzilla Encounter into the trailer.

As for the roar, I flip flop on it. At times, I love it, at times I find it merely acceptable, at times I kinda don't like it...but honestly, to me, it's the closest thing we've gotten to the ORIGINAL roar in years. Yeah, we all have our preferences, and mine too is 89/91, but people accusing Edwards and co of screwing it up must not watch Gojira very often, because you can see how the inspiration was drawn from there to this current roar, I think.

weren't we told that would be the case? i forget where, but someone (maybe Takarada?) said it was basically very similar to the maquettes and stuff we saw, but slimmed down.

As G2014 draws near there will likely be more and more people on the forum. That means more diverse ideas and some opinions may not be popular.

Keep this in mind and take it as a warning: If you think someone is really a troll, notify me or another admin. BUT just because an opinion is different from yours, even if it is weird or off or stupid does not warrant personal attacks and will not be tolerated on this forum.

Argue the ideas, don't attack the members.

I know the emotional exhilaration of these spikes in Godzilla movie activity can be heady, but I shouldn't have to tell you this.

I was iffy on it to begin with but the more I listen to it the more I love it for how bizarre it sounds.

Last night before bed I had to call up the trailer on my phone once more so I could assess the altered roar (still iffy on it, myself), and was pleased to find I didn't even have to search for the trailer. It's trending at the top of Youtube. :) Also currently over 4 million views right now. :) :)

But yeah, the roar... there's something about the warble that takes away some of the satisfaction of hearing the "ee-onk" for me. I dunno. I imagine there will be many variations throughout the movie and the warble might not be present every time.

Whatever you do, do not watch in HD on a 60" screen....because you will hate watching it on anything smaller after that.... LOL

Man the detail is cool.

I don't see that tagline anywhere.

Assuming it's fan-made, it is the best thus far. Certainly far better than "When mankind created its own end" which was one thrown around for a while by fans

I love how well the teaser sells the mood of the film. I honestly don't need to know the plot yet; I want to know what the story will look and feel like. The teaser sells those aspects almost flawlessly, imo.

I have mixed feelings about the roar. On one hand, I don't care for how high-pitched and "hissy" the beginning and middle of the roar are. On the other hand, the reverberating bellow at the end totally thrills me.

Overall, I am definitely feeling optimistic about the film right now. I'm looking up Alexandre Desplat's previous music work to further get in the mood.

Apparently the text in the Japanese trailer references the end of the world, so that may lend some legitimacy to the supposed tagline.
