Reptilicus

How can you not love Reptilicus? I can't really think of any coherent commentary on the film (of course, it is late). It's like you can't question or examine Reptilicus, Reptilicus simply is.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Ultraman Saga.

Not a huge fan of this one, it was mediocre at best.

The Mysterious Island

You know, this would be a pretty great adventure film even without Harryhausen's monsters... of course, Harryhausen monsters automatically make everything better. Brilliant Bernard Herrmann score, too.

Just to see how it was, I rented Nazis At The Center of the Earth.
From the infamous Asylum movie makers. You know the guys who do blatant rip-off versions of popular movies.

Anyhow, this was really odd.
Not for the squeamish either, lots of ripped off flesh & zombie make-up.
The plot was really odd, and of course Hitler himself shows up.
For some reason they made him into a robot, which was strangely similar to one of the old Wolfenstein 3D bosses.
As usual the plans to crush the world eventually failed, and Hitler ends up at the bottom of the Antartic ocean.
He was dying from a flesh eating bacteria (which they were gonna use to bomb the world with), but maybe the freezing waters stopped it?
Cause it shows his robotic arm moving after the credits...

Apparently there is another one called Iron Sky, which features Nazis on the Moon...

Yeh, it was fun. I think it benefits from a group viewing though

John Carpenter's The Ward - Came across this movie by accident on Netflix and it looks like it was done a few years ago. It was decent. Nothing spectacular, but it did have some good moments in it.

Jason and the Argonauts

One of (if not the) best Harryhausen movies, one of the best adventure movies, one of the best monster movies. It tics a lot of boxes.

The only question: what's cooler? The skeletons or Talos?

They Live - I never even heard of this movie until earlier this year and it was great. The music was down right awesome, as has been the case in most of the Carpenter movies I have watched. The fight between Piper and David was hilariously fun. I mean, they beat the crap out of each other other wearing a pair of sunglasses. WTF?! :-D The story was very interesting and it is still something that feels like it happening today. I'm so glad I am getting to see such great movies this year that I have never seen before because the movies of 2013 have sucked. I give it an 8/10.

The Amityville Horror (original) - I've gotta admit, I was not a fan of this thing. The story itself was decent, it had some good ideas, but I just did not feel any sense of suspense or dread during the movie. I just sat there waiting for something to happen that never really did. The best thing about the movie was its characters, but I felt the movie was missing so much more. Glad to have seen it, but it isn't one I'll really go back to on my own. Overall, I give it a 6/10.

I'll probably rewatch Ghosts of Mars if it is Netflix or something since I only remember the movie being told what happened from the only surviving girl or something.

Anyway, my Alamo Drafthouse is going to be showing Alien next month, so I must go see that since I never saw it in theaters.

They are showing The Reanimator this Friday, but I've already got plans going on. Oh, and they are showing They Live next month as well, but tickets are $20 a piece, so I'm going to pass on that. I mean, I just bought it for $20, and with two of us, that would be $40 plus the $45 we usually spend on food and drinks. Hopefully they show The Thing.
