Sorry man, I really don't think you're getting where I'm coming from here. I welcome the articulation, but there are ways to do this stuff that doesn't look terrible. Do you own this figure yet?

I totally agree with Mike about Destoroyah's appearance! I can only assume for the time being that the issue with his figure's shoulders is more an individual case, but when more pics and reviews came out of the wing articulation, I really hated the smaller flaps used in the middle joint of the wing. In Bandai's promotional images, the smaller flaps almost always appear as if they're a single separate piece in front of the larger wing flaps, a nice way to hide the gap when moving the furthest segment of the wing around. It's possible to get it like that with the final product, but it almost never looks nearly that good and the effect is awful when the pieces are spread far apart. Since the wings are such a huge part of Dessy's appearance, I did find this choice to be a turn-off.

I don't know that it would be what Mike wanted, but had the wing joints consisted solely of the two large pieces with ONE smaller flap in the middle, I would have been 100% satisfied. As-is, the effect is jarring and less pleasant.

The only other regular flaw I've seen is the lack of painted eyes. The color in Destoroyah's eyes is intended to come from a light source, but there's no way to keep the figure accurate while piping light into them. Therefore, Destoroyah's eyes appear black and dead almost all the time. I would have much preferred painted eyes in that case. And yes, this used of clear unpainted eyes is intentional, and not an error.

Neither of these flaws are enough that I will never own this figure, but I did cancel my Amazon preorder. Since I don't need Kong and Mosu-Goji is so far off, I think I can finally devote my Amazon funbucks to SpaceGodzilla solely. I've handled a friend's SpaceG so I know it's a stellar figure, but I've been so lazy about getting one. Would've grabbed the used one on AmiAmi for 2700 yen if I hadn't told them to ship my February order just a day earlier.

And since k_g brought it up I really like Rodan's wing joints. The hinges blend in well with the figure sculpt and the wing movement looks natural and anatomically approximately right. They're not the kind of joints that would work for Destoroyah, but they did their job well.

To take this thread into the "+ related military vehicles" territory...does anyone have any good suggestions for stuff in the scale of the 50m Godzilla '64? I think he's roughly around 1:330 scale, but that's not a common scale.

The best thing I've found so far is this, which is 1:285: http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/j150.html

Now it means time for someone to eat a Marmit Gigan and someone else to sell off their vinyl collection. I knew it would happen someday, and it has...!

I'm not going to actually believe anything until I see it. Online is one thing, but I STILL find it hard to believe someone is going to be able to walk into a Toys R Us, find these things in Japanese packaging for the $50-$100+ that they go for and actually buy them. $10 Bandai Creation figures clog the shelves whenever I go into a TRU. How are these things supposed to sell enough at RETAIL to justify stores stocking them?

And why in the world are you even celebrating, Timothy? Have you bought ANY of these things yet?

As for me selling anything just for being proven wrong, which I technically haven't yet...keep dreaming guys.

Besides with an upcoming Godzilla movie, wouldn't be wise to have merchandise for that franchise already in place? With Toho vocally wanting a US Godzilla in the mid-90's, isn't that probably half the reason the Trendmasters Godzilla came about? Preparation, getting the brand visible, and all that.
