So with that Tamashii event in a few days do you think we'll get new SHMAs or do you think they'll show off more of what they've already annouced?

I'm hoping for new annoucements, I'd love to see Biollante and Mecha King Ghidorah as well as one form of Mothra either Showa or Heisei.

Here we are...the new pics of the Gojira 64 figure! Looks very GOOD!!!

And it will be coming to the US courtesy of Bluefin, so no worries on it being an exclusive!

EDIT: The feet have articulation if you notice the seams! :)

^ plus funky feet articulation! A first for a Goji MA! And what more is...MOTHRA IS COMING!" Notice the movie from where the figure is showing to come from! I guess all the posting on the Bluefin wall paid off. :P

Am I the only one who doesn't love this figure? And the thing is, I want to love it. But I really feel like they sacrificed too much of the aesthetics just for the sake of having more articulation. It's always a trade off between sculpt and poseability when it comes to adding ANY articulation to a figure but I feel like this (and some of the other Monsterarts/Figuarts) go so far to add more joints that they end up compromising what is really a great sculpt.

Those feet look terrible. I've already harped on them once but i mean, look at 'em! And you can't possibly tell me that that joint is actually so useful that it's worth destroying the foot sculpt (and G'64 had pretty distinctive feet for a Godzilla, which makes it all the more annoying).

And then there's the hips... What is going on there? He's got giant cracks running up the sides of his hips. I just can't fathom why they needed that seam.

The more I see of these monster arts, the more I feel like they really push too far in the direction of articulation at the expense of the overall look of the figure. And I find it frustrating because the sculpts really are just fantastic. And I feel like we'd still all love the figures if they had a few less joints where it would really improve the overall appearance. They'd still be far and away the most articulated Godzilla figures we've ever had with plenty of poseability. Oh well. At least my wallet and my wife will be happy...

well, yeah... I was one who was particularly interested to see them move into the Showa era b/c I was curious how my favorite characters would come out. But their first offering has some serious issues that have greatly tempered my enthusiasm.

Just because they're doing a favorite version of Godzilla doesn't mean they get a free pass. I was very exicted for G'64 but now that I've seen some decent pics of it I'm not very impressed. It's got some serious flaws. I'm not going to blindly love something or get all excited about it just because it's there.

I judge things based on their own merit. This one is kinda crappy imo based on what we've seen. And it's not the first. I think the first '94 G they did was really nice & I'm glad I own it. But subsequent figures have almost all had major flaws. Whether it be articulation getting in the way of a good sculpt, poor QC, breakage, etc. Godzilla '94 and SpaceGodzilla seem to be the only two that were generally well done. That isn't exaclty a very good track record... As I've said before, I really like the IDEA of the monsterarts line. But overall it has been rather poorly executed thus far and ultimately quite disappointing.

Most of the versions of characters in the MonsterArts line are spoiled for choice when it comes to unarticulated figures. While it's understandable if some of you don't like the sacrifices made to add articulation, I don't know what it is you guys want. Do you want the articulation done differently, or do you just not want articulation? If it's the latter... then don't buy these?

Moreover, excitement is understandable, but haven't the issues this line has had taught everybody NOT to love a figure at first sight? Let some more pictures, especially ones that aren't prettied-up Bandai promotional shots, be the judge of whether or not you buy these toys. Most of us are unaffected by Tamashii Web exclusivity, so we don't have to buy sight unseen if we don't want. I don't see the issues canofhumdingers does with Mosu-Goji's feet and kinda understand what's being done with the hips, but there is nothing wrong with showing some skepticism this early in the game, especially with a 6000-yen figure even smaller than Heisei Godzilla and currently known to include no accessories.
