There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

That sounds so stupid. I haven't been reading comics long enough to really experience garbage like that first hand (a few exceptions here and there, but not like this), so I've been fortunate, I guess. The bit that person gave about the user comments disgusts me almost as much as the story itself. Trash like that doesn't belong in comic books. I like a good graphic story every once in a while, but when it involves characters that I've known for years that you don't really envision this happening to in any way it's pretty much a slap to the face.

Why does everything have to be so damn violent any more? That sounds like a rated R movie; not something I would put in the hands of a fifteen-year-old kid. Is that what people buy this stuff for these days? None of the stuff I'm reading right now (minus the Punisher, and even it isn't as bad as this sounds) has anything like that in them, and they're just fine. I'm not going to get all "It's because of stuff like this that people do it in real life!" here, but what the hell. It's just sickening to me that people seem to prefer killing and sexual brutality over heroes just beating up bad guys.

Still in my classic superhero education: recently read the first Doctor Strange Masterwork collection (Ditko was just a phenomenal cartoonist) and Superman in the Sixties (where I learned that, if the book is indeed an accurate sample, that anything Superman is significantly better when it's drawn by Curt Swan).

Also read Atomic Robo and the Shadow From Beyond Time, which is the kind of superhero book I'm actually interested in reading - but being published today! What novelty, huh? In this volume everyone's favorite automaton teams up with Carl Sagan to fight Cthulhu (that's an enormous oversimplification).

Also reading a collection of Floyd Gottfredsen's Mickey Mouse comic strips from the '40s, which are surprisingly great; it's like entering an alternate universe where Mickey is a badass little adventurer, and while some old strips can be a bit tedious to read all in one setting (since that's nothing like how they were intended to be read) these just breeze by.

Team Robo (aka the guys who do Atomic Robo) put up 'The Promise'... apparently several years ago. It's a mission statement about what they're trying to do with the comic and it's pretty cool.

Very rarely does a modern, 'big-two' superhero book come out that interests me. I could kick myself for missing out on Superman Family Adventures (I know it still has a few issues left, but waiting for the tpb).

Ladies and gentlemen: Batman 1966, the comic book!
