Well, I don't think, even with its problems, that the Godzilla stuff is somehow not reminiscent of classic Godzilla, but I get what you're saying. My problem is really with the quality of what gets put out rather than what they're trying to do with it.
I also really feel like the ongoing should just work with story arcs. Maybe 1-4 or 5 issues that tell one particular story. They can tie into something bigger, but make them stand alone enough to work well as trades and the like. My biggest problem with the ongoings is that it always feels like we're waiting for something to happen. There's never the payoff you see in Gangsters Goliaths or Half Century War. Hell, Legends seemed to manage it on an issue by issue basis.
