Return of Daimajin
You know, this one is usually rated the lowest in the trilogy - but dang if I didn't thoroughly enjoy it! It largely follows the pattern of the first film, except that instead of having the bad guy take over and make the situation look hopeless from the get-go this film is confined to the days (two, three days?) during the coup. The situation is still in flux for most of the run-time, with the villain only appearing in complete control of the situation right before the divine retribution starts. It's basically the same story, but approached from a slightly different angle making it feel just different enough.
And I love that each of the three Daimajin films picks a natural element as a theme and really sticks with it, providing a nice little signpost differentiating the three films: 1 has dirt or earth, 2 has water, and 3 has snow.
