Yeah, the Robin thing was totally a throwaway line. Yes, he's Robin (and I called it halfway through the movie!), but he's obviously filling a different role. I could totally see him becoming Nightwing, but the whole point was to have Batman become an immortal symbol. So either another Batman or Nightwing would work, really.
