Glasses or no, 3D doesn't work for every single person. I know guys who don't wear glasses that don't "get" 3D, and I and someone else both wear glasses and even with glasses on top of glasses, 3D works. My frames don't stick out that much, but they are thicker plastic frames like your picture. It probably helps that I've only ever seen films shot in 3D, never post-converted crap. When (not if!) I go to see Avengers again, it won't be in 3D regardless.
