Bride of Frankenstein
This is the ultimate Universal horror film - and nothing, nothing says Halloween like a Universal horror film!
There is more gothic imagery, creepiness, black comedy, goofy comedy, and pathos (especially pathos) in this slim one hour and fifteen minute run time then in a dozen other horror films. Karloff and Ernest Thesiger deliver powerhouse performances.
I am a bit upset, after viewing the special features, that they weren't allowed to film the scene where The Monster sees a large crucifix and, mistaking the statue of Christ for a fellow victim like himself (see: earlier in the film) tries to help him off the cross. That would have packed a wallop.
