Ah, nostalgia.

I just found out that the live action version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears I watched as a kid and left quite an impression on me was actually an episode of Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre (what's up with the archaic spelling, Shelley?). It's on Hulu. Hoyt Axton is in it!

Recently I've been building up a home library of classic animation. I found most of the stuff I loved as a kid (Looney Tunes, Tex Avery, Popeye, Rocky and Bullwinkle) are still really enjoyable to me as an adult, but not all: the the Hanna Barbera stuff does nothing for me. I used to love The Flintstones as a kid, and I mean loved. I was Fred for Halloween one year. Now I can hardly watch the show.

Haven't watched The Flintstones in a good while, but I find it hard to imagine not enjoying the show.

Stuff like Pink Panther, Snagglepus, Huckleberry Hound...stuff that I watched as a kid just for the pure fact that they were cartoons (before there was such a thing as a Cartoon Network)...I doubt I'd be able to sit through for very long.

Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes on the other hand....effing love me some T&J

btw, Mr. Dressup was apparently a Canadian/US-Canada border-town thing...

picture something like Mr. Rogers neighborhood...you know, the type of show they don't make anymore because they've decided that kids just need to be marketed things that are LOUD both in color-scheme and incessant noise.

I used to enjoy the Flintstones as a kid. Haven't watched an episode in years so I couldn't say if I still like it. The Jetsons were ok, though I didn't like them as much as the Flintstones.

Other cartoons I used to love watching as a kid were Top Cat, The Smurfs, The Snorks, Thundar The Barbarian, Spider-Woman, The Super Friends, Johnny Quest, The Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbara cartoons of course, Popeye, The Pink Panther, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Scooby Doo, Josie & The Pussycats, Spiderman.... I vaguely remember an Incredible Hulk cartoon as well.

Other shows I watched as a kid were Shazam!, Isis, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, Alice, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, The Land Of The Lost...

I loved getting up early on Saturday mornings and checking the tv guide listings for any monster/horror movies. Around noontime I used to watch a show called the Monstrous Movie that showed a lot of old b&w monster movies and about 2pm there was another show called The Chiller Diller that showed more recent horror movies of the early 70's.

For television alone being a kid was awesome!

Seeing as I'm 25, my kiddie memories aren't so far removed from me yet...

Godzilla has tons of nostalgic notions for me. I used to wake up early to watch Pokemon before school, and I would watch Toonami's DBZ run pretty much every day.

Anyone remember Ronin Warriors? I enjoyed that show...

@MFW - Yeah, I have very vague memories of Dinosaucers...and Dino the Last Dinosaur! *sings the Dino theme song*

Oh and X-Men (90's cartoon). I LOVED that show and had tons of toys. Ah the joy of Saturday mornings, plus it came on at 11ish so I could sleep in some! :)
