So what are everyone's thoughts on Box 6? I'm impressed! I've listened through all of them as background music, now going back through and listening more closely.

I'm also shamed to admit that I'm kind of digging this really extended score to FINAL WARS (3 discs!?!?). It's been ages since I watched the movie or listened to the previous release, and -- yeah -- it's a lot of electronic nonsense at times, but for a completist, this is a really comprehensive release.

I wish I had time to go through right now and translate, though Google Translate seems to do a pretty good job with .

I think my only disappointment is that the Oshima scores are just the one disc each. OTOH, there was a lot of repetitive material on the original CDs, so I guess it only is what it really is. Also, does anyone else notice some cracks and pops in at least the first two tracks of GxMG?

The box was great. I didn't thoroughly listen to all of the discs, but make sure I checked out all the stuff that was left off the previous releases, as well as some of my favorite stuff from the soundtracks I didn't already own. I'm not sure about the problem on MG, I'd have to go back and listen for myself. I'm really glad they finally released the full score to GFW (stock tracks aside), because there were a few good tracks missing from the original. And a lot of the bonus stuff was interesting as well.

The Ifukube DVD was pretty cool. The first segment, for the symphonic fantasia, starts with about 10-15 minutes of Japanese guys talking on state. If I'm correct, that's Akihiko Hirata speaking at the first, dressed as his character Dr. Serizawa (not entirely easy to tell, the segment has an old recorded video look). The segments in general are nice but I wish I could see more of the orchestras playing the music. Also if watching Ifukube smoke as he reads along with his music is your thing, you'll love this DVD. Also the Godzilla vs. Mothra part was particularly interesting because the footage they're scoring to is an earlier version, with the final SFX not inserted yet. So you get a weird placeholder effect for Godzilla's beam, half-assed lightning effects, etc.
