I know this has nothing to do with Godzilla, but I'm so happy with it I have to share!

My wife gave me the Sideshow Collectibles Darth Vader 1/6 figure for Christmas. It's AWSOME! But, the helmet was just.....off. It wasn't nearly as bad in person as it is in pictures, but it was still noticable.

I finally got the guts (after buying a spare dome off the internet) to modify it & I'm so happy with the results I could pop!

First, a few pics of the original Darth Vader as he appeared in 1977(courtesy starwarshelmets.com):

And now for sideshows's figure:

What exactly was wrong with the helmet and how did you fix it?

It sat too high on the face mask & didn't flare wide enough at the bottom. It also didn't tilt back at the right angle, so the bottom of the dome/flare sat way too high off his neck/shoulders.

I dremmeled out the support structure inside the helmet. I also boiled it & widened the flare.

Do you mean the vertical stripes on the chest armour (bcause all three suits had that, the patern was a little different on the the original & it was covered by the inner robe, but it was there)? Or do you mean the pattern on the shoulder bells themselves? B/c the original suit actually had two tone shoulder bells, while ESB & ROTJ had solid black shoulder bells, despite many promotional suits & fan created suits sporting two tone shoulder bells on those versions.

And finally, an actual ESB set that was repainted by the Lucasfilm archives in 1992 to be auctioned off.

I suppose this image is the one that sums it up:

Just felt like taking pics of a few figures today. Nothing new. The Gigabrain glow '64 & the Marmit red glitter G2000.

This is what my collection has looked liked for the last 8 months. Depressing, I know.

Thankfully my GIGANTIC new room is almost completed and these guys can run free once again!

Well, since I am back home in the US for vacation until I go back to Japan next month and bored stiff, here are some pics of my collection. I mainly collect figures in the 8-10 inch scale, but I have a few 6 inch figures mixed in here and there.

I am a little bit of an odd ball when it comes to my collection in that I am not a “completionistâ€

Ok, here are my Bandai's. While I was taking photos of these, it dawned on me on how much I've moved away from Bandai towards Marmit, Marusan, Gigabrain, etc. Don't get me wrong, I like most of their 8 inch line, but after buying much superior alternatives in the Marmit/Gigabrain/Marusan lines the past few years (Battra, King Seesar, Gigan, Biollante, Destoyer, Kamakuras, Jet Jaguar, showa MG, Megaguirus, etc. etc. etc.), I've really soured on some of these bandai figures. Who knows, I might sell some of them someday....

One of my favorite Bandai figures...grand KG is awesome...one of the best KG designs ever. Why can't Bandai make a Showa KG as big and spectacular as this Grand KG? :dunno:
Image

Though I don't care for the 6 inch form, I do have a few here and there (most of the 6 inch figures in this picture I bought in Japan for $7 or less). A few non Bandai figures are scattered in there as well.
Image

My 8 inch Godzilla figures. One glaring weakness of my "Godzilla family" is a lack of any 8 inch showa Godzilla figures (gee, thanks Bandai for not making any of the showa G memorial box figures in 8 inch form :x So I'm determined to add some Gigabrains asap (G62 and G64).

Bandai Machine Chronicles 1 & 2...they really need to make a Bandai Chronicles 3 and 4...so many awesome mecha that still needs to be covered.
Image

Can't for the life of me remember what this series of figures is called:
Image

Godzilla Origins Ornaments

Some Trendmasters stuff. For the 4 inch w/ sound, I have all of them except for Megalon, and honestly don't care if I ever do or not. Some of them are not in the best of shape (I was away from home for nearly 10 years, so my parents packed them away...as a result, they really roughed my TM stuff up, especially Battra and Mothra's wings).
Image

Most of these 10 inch figures suck (especially Gigan...and King Ghidorah is way too small out of scale...he should tower over everyone), but I really dig Space G...in fact, I like it better than Bandai or Marmit's figures  I also have 10 inch Rodan as well as other TM stuff, but I honestly don't feel like dragging them out of their boxes at this time.
Image

Some day I might take pictures of my Godzilla book collection, but they're packed away in a box downstairs at the moment (my parents will be retiring and moving next year, so I've had to box up alot of stuff as all this stuff would never in my tiny Japanese apartment  ).
