Ok I just saw it earlier tonight.

Meh.... it was so-so. I thought Milla did a decent job acting-wise, and some of the "real footage" was kinda creepy and disturbing, but other than that I didn't find it too compelling and kinda heavy handed at times. Sometimes the documentary style footage and the "movie" footage meshed well together, at other times it didn't, giving it an uneven, unbalanced feel.

SPOILER

None of the footage in this movie is real. I'm sure there will be gullible viewers who will fall for it, but it's not. At the beginning Milla introduces herself and says that the movie is supported by real documented footage and audio recordings, yet anytime anything supposedly happened (like footage of a patient under hypnosis levitating or an spacecraft hovering over a house and kidnapping someone through a beam of light), the video suddenly becomes static-y and distorted, so you conveniently don't really see much of anything. Still, I have to give the director credit because that footage did manage to still be creepy and compelling at times.

Not a horrible film, just so-so. I'd wait for DVD and rent it or Netflix it.

Man, I saw this at a midnight showing the same night I made this post... why its taken me so long to reply to my own thread... who knows?

Anyway, I was pretty unimpressed. It starts out with the ridiculous clip from the trailer where Milla Jovovich comes out and says "I'm actress Milla Jovovich, this is all real, blah blah blah"- I found that to be a really dumb move on the part of the filmmakers... way to zap me out of the film from the get-go.

And that leads us to my biggest beef. The movie shows the "real" footage and the "movie" footage at the same time with split screens and such... huh? I really didn't understand this and I wish they would have settled for one or the other. It didn't mesh well at all. And the sad thing is that I thought the "movie" footage was largely creepier than the gimmicky "real" footage! Especially the actress playing the "real" version of Jovovich's character... here she is, supposedly the "real" person and she's the worst actor in the movie!

Yeah, it had some creepy moments, some that even gave me chills, but overall this movie was just a big mess. The combination of "found" and "re-enactment" footage doesn't work AT ALL, the "archive" footage has worse actors than the "re-enactment" footage, and the movie is just over-directed and doesn't know what it wants to be. On the plus side, its nice to see Elias Koteas and Will Patton getting some work again... I'm a fan of both of those guys.

I'd suggest anyone interested just wait for the DVD and rent it.

it wasnt until after i'd heard some buzz that i wanted to check this out...but from the previews alone i thought this looked pretty lame...

Besides the complaints that have been mentioned, my biggest problem with the movie was that the characters were very stupid. The main police officer was a complete jerk. I know a lot of us know cops like that, but this guy really shouldn't have been serving on the police force, especially since he wasn't doing his job properly. Also, as Mouth said, the "real" Dr. Tyler was just plain annoying. I honestly couldn't understand anything she said half the time because she just mumbles and whines. It was really frustrating to watch her scenes.

Anyway, this isn't highly recommended, but I did have a lot of fun watching it with two of my best friends. Just try to have a fun time with it.

Yeah, it's okay. The cop was, as many have mentioned, a little too much. I had nothing to do this afternoon and decided to use this to fill it. On that premise it worked pretty well. Don't go out of your way to see it though. Also, I can't understand how people believed this was real. A theater worker spoke about how insane this was, and how there was a documentary on it. >_>
