Aliens - I don't know WHY, but I never noticed until yesterday that the last half-hour(ish) of Aliens is almost the same as the last half-hour of Alien.
Instead of a life-threatening venture to save a cat, it's a little girl.
Instead of a ship about to explode, it's (essentially) the whole planet.
Instead of a last-minute showdown with a drone in a small space, it's a last-minute showdown with the queen.

Also, I find it interesting that originally, the aliens were supposed to have a complete life-cycle independent of having a queen...there's a scene cut from Alien, where Captain Dallas is show half-morphed into an egg. The idea that some sort of secretion from the alien is able to turn its still-living victims into eggs.
Then Cameron introduced the queen and that's the end of that chapter.

Alien and Aliens are still awesome flicks, though. Each in it's own right.
