Well, three years caught up with in 9 pages. :D

It's nice to see the sane folk still here, but I'm sorry to see that China has left, and that's not from some horny fanboy perspective, either. :? She was a definite ray of light.

Not that anyone remembers me or does it matter, but things just got way too busy in March of...ugh. 200 :o! to continue forward actively, and things were so out of control with the Kaiju boards, with all the bickering and slandering and weirdness, it became a waste of time. I think I just turned away for the most part after some thread over Fantastic Four and how some guys aggressively defended it ( ). Shortly before, I left the newly rebooted forums at Tokyo Monsters because of the arrogant strutting around over there by Huntie, doing pretty much what Dutch did here. It's odd that while I found myself agreeing with their actual opinions, their self-centered personalities were just dark and overbearing, to the point of intolerable.

As far as the Mazer city stuff, "Kids, pfft" is all I have to say to that. It seemed about as important as a treehouse fort full of foulmouthed latch-key kids throwing rocks at anyone that got in range. :)

And somewhere during all this, Aaron who was already going through an awful lot, and seeing how slanderous a handful of punks were being about him, while he continued doing with humility what anyone would consider "the right thing".......his emails pretty much stopped when his mother passed away, he was beyond broken in his last email to me. :( Then, not too long after (it didn't seem long, I am unsure), news of his passing just left me wordless.

Anyhow, I have always appreciated the focus and dedication many of you folks have spent on this, and it's great to see familiar names. :D

Work's gotten more stable, personal things in life are calmer and I've been able to spend more time enjoying the things we all love, and hopefully getting to talk and exchange about them. I even got to go to the SDCC last weekend, something I haven't done since 1980!

I was only able to attend one day with my friend Dave (he wholesales toys and vinyl from Japan and China), so I never made it past the exhibit hall (cavern) and I was pretty much a deer in headlights.

I was all about the designer vinyl, mostly non Kaiju (saw some kaiju vinyl there, but don't remember anything earth-shattering) toys like Strangeco, Super 7, Rocketworld, and I loved the multitude of artists present or represented. Got to meet August and have his book signed by him :D , which was a major highlight of the day, and then I ended up springing for the goofiest damn vinyl I've ever seen, a 2-foot tall cow designed by Frank Cho.... I don't know much about her (a very masculine her, though), but she makes a somewhat rude decoration on top of the fridge.

Image

She was also pretty cumbersome in the box she was packed in and that with Dave's large box containing a Voltron set of bookends, well we hired one of those rickshaws outside the convention center to get us back to the right parking lot. :?

I've taken the Amtrak halfway across the state for less money than what that 3 block rickshaw ride raped us for.

And today, we go to the Egyptian Theater tonight to enjoy that triple-bill with Bringing Godzilla Down to Size, WOTG and Mothra! :bouncy:

More fandom this last week than in the last few years! If anyone's going tonight, see ya there!

Robert! :D Good to see ya, thanks! :D

That Egyptian show was great, but sitting through a triple feature was kind of numbing, but we made it. Seeing Mothra in that beautiful new print on a big screen was a treat, and it's great to know that "Bringing Godzilla Down to Size" will be on the WOTG/Rodan DVD coming up.

Oh man. I remember when I turned kaijunet into the GZH homepage for Franz. Even at that point, I took all of his Zero Hour talk with a grain of salt. He showed me some footage and I didn't even have the heart to tell him how amateurish it was. I mean, it wasn't terrible grade for a fan film. But, it was indeed a fan film made a by a couple of dudes.

Hell, the best part of my experiences with GZH was this completely badass poster Franz had made for the main page of kaijunet when his forums were there...

Image

Yes, it's completely badass. Too badass for the quality of film he was producing. I still don't know who made that, by the way. But whoever it was, they f***ing rock!

Anyway, I eventually got bored of kaijunet (I was already bored of it before Franz asked to use it for GZH) and rarely went to the forums. Eventually, my subscription to the hosting space lapsed without me even realizing. Also, I seemed to talk to Franz less as time went on.

I only found out about the hilariously disastrous G-Fest showing months after the fact (he practically begged me to come that year to help them out and be a witness to how amazing it was all going to be) and am only now hearing about the slow death of Franz's project.

As much as he raved about it to me, I always knew nothing would come of it. I'm sorry Franz. You're my friend, man, but you need to come down to Earth.

...that picture is freaking godly, though. God damn...

Regarding that picture: to each his own. But it's nothing special. Just a fangasm depicting kaiju imagery the average 12 year-old fan wets himself over.

Badass Millennium Godzilla design? Check.

Badass Final Wars Gigan? Check.

Badass imagery from a Kaneko movie? Check.

Lots of what appears to be badass dripping blood? Check.

The only thing missing from that poster is Bagan.

You guys should've been there for the "You F-ed Up" chant we gave Brett when Don Frye said he was going to leave if Brett didn't have some Godzilla Blood. He didn't, Don Frye finished his drink and took off. It sucked, but Armand got a good one-liner (one of several during the G-Fest weekend) on Brett when he got back (he went to talk to Don), fake-holding his jaw like Don Frye hit him.
