So I started AND beat Heavenly Sword today. It was pretty awesome, and it has been a long time since I've had a game I could be in one sitting. That was a nice nostalgic feel today. This game is going to do for me what Onimusha did on the PS2. Very awesome games, with a good story, but some really difficult mechanics.
My biggest gripes with HS are the worthless Sixaxis and the lack of checkpoints during a mission. It sucked knocking Roach down to 0 health on his third bar, go through the cut scene, and then get killed by his spinning attack, and then having to do the whole battle over. That was some very big bs. As for the Sixaxis, that was a joke. Thankfully they let you change it to the analog sticks, which made that ability awesome. Oh yeah, and the final boss fight has to be one of the most boring final battles I have ever played. There was no strategy to him at all. Roll, hit Square 3-4 times, roll, square, get hit by flying lightning bolts, square, etc. It was pretty much 3 battles of button mashing with Square, as nothing else seemed effective at all. Thankfully that battle was broken down so that you did not have to do the whole thing over.
The ending was pretty cool, but Kai truly stole the show from Nariko. Everything with here was just pure excellent. However, I am a little confused in the star system. In the mission where you have to save Nariko's father, I killed every enemy without him getting hit once, but I did not even get a single star. WTF???
Next up, I just spent the last 2 hours playing the Burnout Paradise demo and that was just driving around smashing into things and speeding off ramps. This game is definitely a must buy, and now I do not know if I can even play Revenge anymore. Burnout plus Open World equals pure brilliance.
