Sandy Frank Gamera trailers...

Spinning flame-jetted turtles, space birds being chopped up like bologna, kids in shorts screaming for help...the original Gamera series was a strange mix of wacky fun!! The 90's Gamera films set a standard that other kaiju films are measured against! Discuss Gamera films here!!

Gamera Vs. Gaos and Gamera Vs. Zigra were the two they had at my local video store. I have no memories of Zigra but Gaos was a seriously creepy film to me at the time. The new Gyaos designs are cool-looking and all but none have been anywhere near as creepy as the original.

I also remember the trailer for Barugon creeping me out for some reason...

Legend of the Dinosaurs freaked me out as a kid, too. I think I made it to the mutilated horse when I stopped watching (or maybe the mauling out on the raft). When I rewatched it years later... wow... what a piece of trash... XD

Seriously, how the hell does a movie where a horse gets mauled, and a woman gets chomped explicitly from her boat make it to a "KIDS CLUB" line of videos o_O?!

Ah well, at least we will getting it from Media Blasters soon enough...

The first Gamera movie I ever saw was "Gamera, Super Monster", because it was taped by accident when I was trying to get a couple other movies on late-night TBS. I loved it, though I was likely unaware at the time it was largely made up of stock footage from other movies. The second Gamera film I saw was "Gamera vs. Guiron", our local Blockbuster Video had the Celebrity's Just For Kids VHS.

Wow, these bring back memories (except for the Dinosaurs and Apes trailers, never seen those before). You know, as awesome as DVDs are, it's little stuff like this that makes me miss VHS' occasionally. I love the music they use for the Gamera and Time of the Apes trailers, and some of the lines are cheesy-awesome. :D

"Gamera, the towering inferno who'll change your feelings about pet turtles... forever."

"Get ready for lights... action... GAMERA."

"Gamera's back and Barugon's got him! In GAMERA VS. BARUGON."

"Yes, it's Gamera, the gigantic turtle from another world. And who - cleverly disguised as a flaming, flying saucer - stands for peace, truth, and the death of Zigra."

"It's a close encounter of dueling aliens. A war of the stars, it's GAMERA VS. ZIGRA, and it's a shoe-in for a sequel."
