If these movies weren't popular, no one would have bothered wasting time and money purchasing them, dubbing them, producing ad campaigns, and releasing them to theaters. These films were very successful at the US box office, in the "science fiction" market. RODAN was one of the highest grossing genre films in the US during 1956, according to Box Office Barometer and Far East Film News. Even later releases like GHIDRAH (1965) were hits, while the horror cycle was winding down. The double feature release of THE WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS and MONSTER ZERO was a surprise box office hit in 1970, according to Variety.
