Various Godzilla series posters

Postby Jim Ballard » Mon May 29, 2006 11:00 am

First off, this is the Japanese theatrical poster for Sony Tri-Star's U.S. GODZILLA (1998). Hate the movie, but love the poster! I apologise if this looks a little dusty and murky - I've had it stuck on my wall in my room for a long time:

Some more later when I find the time!

Here are three different posters for The Return of Godzilla that I scanned from the Final Box poster book a while back:

Thanks for posting those guys! I love having bigger pictures of the posters. :color:

Something I've wondered for a long time... how come there is music printed on the sides to the GHIDORAH poster? (As well as HEDORAH, among other showa Goji posters) I'll have to play it and see what comes out!

That first Return of Godzilla poster... the way Godzilla's shadow towers above the city...

:o Whoa!

I've always thought that the second "Return of Godzilla" poster was the best of that movie.
Saw it at G-fest once, but to pricey for me. one day i'll get it.

I'vve never liked the theatrical (live) poster from G85. Godzilla is just TOO big in my opinion, and there's too much going on, much like the later theatrical poster for 92's Godzilla vs Mothra.

That last G1985 poster has been staring at me all month via American Greeting's Godzilla calendar! I have fond memories of that one as it was used for the US poster and the original VHS release. The only bad memory associated with it was me, a kid in the early 90's, getting my Dad to take me to every video rental store in the city to look for Godzilla films. It seemed all anyone had was G1985, which I'd already seen several times. Each time I'd go to the appropriate section hoping for a G film that I hadn't seen/ only saw once on TV, and each time their would be that lone G1985 box staring at me.
