Guys....I got some news...But it's sorta wierd(
no, I don't celebrate April Fool's, and I don't like it, so no worries) It goes something like this:
Apparently, Kadokawa-Daiei is looking into some heavy CG for one of its' upcoming films and is currently shopping around for programs to render objects in realtime without the use of green screen - At least that's what my contact has been able to dig up so far.
Also, she found something interesting in a mail box - It was a book of sketches sent in to the office. Normally, these things are screened by Studio execs to see if they'll be used in upcoming movies or to hire new creative talent, but she noticed that it didn't have a kadokawa-daiei seal nor a legal department sign-off, which meant that it had been sent into the office from an outside source...
What's interesting is that, within this sketchbook, she admits to having seen at least 4 sketches with the letter/number "G4" at the upper right of the pages. The sketches were of
experimental japanese aircraft in a hangar of sorts, a boat capsizing as something huge is coming out of the water, Tokyo City skyline in flames as a winged creature hovered above it in shadow, and sketches of what look like the two principal actresses from the first film looking at the skeleton of a giant creature.
However, the most interesting of all was an actual Gamera sketch - she described it as "more fierce and evil" than the G3 form, with "a more metallic look, more armor-like scales" and "tougher in appearance" as well.
Bear in mind that these are sketches sent in to the Kadokawa-Daiei offices and NOT actual Kadokawa art, which could mean a lot of things at this point and time. Also, those weren't the only sketches in there, as there were others, which unfortunately, she didn't read that well, but described them to me, and they sounded like
1 - A futuristic feudal tale 2 - A samurai movie in the same vein as "Samurai X",3- A movie with Giant robots similar to, but not exactly, "Gundam", 4- A movie with teenagers and swords that had "Matrix-like" overtones and 5- a movie with about bullet trains...(Sucks.....I could've reported new movies!
)
Quite frankly, I believe these are sketches made by an outside artist, possibly a manga artist, for review by the Kadokawa Daiei board....
Remember whatever's reported here MUST NOT leave this board. If other sites get this information and report it as "real" they'll eventually look into who's giving it and stop them, or publicize it until there's a blindfold placed on the forum community.......I don't know how Kadokawa-Daiei feels about overseas fandom, but from the way TOHO reacted during the GFW fiasco, I wouldn't be surprised if Kadokawa has a giant gorilla waiting to pounce on people like me for Gamera news.....
