Is GFW the most expensive Japanese movie of all time?

It is from what I've heard. If Godzilla vs. the Devil or Gargantua had been made (with their original budgets), than they would probably have eclipsed them.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

35 million $ is what IMDB says, but I wouldn't trust them too much.

I've seen figures between 20-29 million dollars for the budget of Steamboy, which is at least the most expensive japanese animated feature, though probably not the most expensive of all japanese films.

At it's time, the Seven Samurai was the most expensive movie, but that should have changed by now.
