Haven't seen it since 2005. Although to be honest I haven't really watched any of the films since then. GMK once or twice I think.

I'm still in the middle on this movie. I love it for how fun and nonsensical it is, but at the same time I really wish the 50th Anniversary, BE ALL END ALL, movie in the series was a bit more substantial. Oh well... Maybe the 60th Anniversary can make up for it? :( I hope?

Looking back at GFW, I like the film, but I don't love it. It's fun to watch, but I still think it needs fixing. The mixed-up music score, the editing, etc. It's like watching a workprint or something. So I would say that, despite enjoying this film, I'd say that this is the low point in the Millennium Series.

I'm okay with Keith Emerson doing the score, since I listened to ELP's Tarkus album some time before that, but they could've just used the Tarkus album for the score, quirky as it was!

I thought the Godzilla suit in this film was pretty good. It looks a lot better in front than on the side, and the head is a bit more consistent than in the last two films. The other monsters look just fine (Rodan look a lot better here than in Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla '93), but appear a bit too briefly.

I was also glad that of the monsters Godzilla fought, he spared Anguirus, Rodan, and King Caesar! Those three are among my favorite monsters.

Gigan looked awesome, but was ultimately weak on film. (He loses his head twice!) I think Monster X (who looks interesting for a Godzilla foe, though more like a He-Man villain) should've been the monster that was covered in stone instead of Gigan. Kaiser-Ghidorah looks interesting, though, and the transformation sequence was quite effective! Mothra was in the film pretty quickly (aside from the fact that the Shobijin looked goth in this film!).

Don Frye is awesome! He's no Nick Adams, but even as a non-actor, his presence has impact, and he can speak without mumbling or going nonsensical like other actors (like Bob Sapp in Devilman, where he was nearly incomprehensible).

Kazuki Kitamura's daffy Controller of Planet X is enjoyable, even if he is more in common with Invader ZIM than Yoshio Tsuchiya's memorable original.

It's also great to see Akira Takarada and Kumi Mizuno back in action one more time! Like Hiroshi Koizumi in Godzilla: Tokyo SOS, they actually get to DO STUFF, unlike most veteran actors did in the entire Heisei Era (ie. just sit around and watch a big monitor).

And the one scene considered to be the best in the entire film: Godzilla Vs. GINO!

I'd say, it's still enjoyable, even it if is a mixed bag.

Agree with most of your point which is why it almost baffles me even that I hate this movie so much.

As far as Gigan goes...I know it'd be goofy but does anyone else wish that he retained his original colors? I think that desgin with the classic green and cold would be THE Gigan in my book...oh well...he still looks great.

Something I did like was that in the final battle Godzilla retained some of his 70's personality, namely in the fact that he had some once again. A little more would have been great though, I always saw these monsters not as animals but more like the gods of Olympus...really messed up and unique personalities with the power to destroy cities.

Rodan was great, again, just nit picking but I wish he was brown like in the original film although I understand why they changed it to red, to many brown monsters already.

Hedorah I felt was a step down as well as Kamakuras.

I remember the lead up to this movie...I don't recall being so exicted for a film with the exceptions of possibly The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3....to bad in two of the three above examples I walked away with nothing but contempt.

It's a really fun, stupid, purposely silly movie and I like it a lot. The previous two installments commited the far greater crime of being boring. And I loooved seeing Rodan, Angilas, King Seesar, Kumonga, and Kamakurus again - and despite the rationing out of screentime I thought they all got good bits in.

I think that GFW, GMK and G2K (huh, acronymy) are the best of the 3rd series.

This movie for me is still the worst Godzilla movie ever. This is the only Godzilla movie I have ever seen at a theater in Japan and it is still the worst Godzilla movie ever for me.

The only film that beats this as worst movie at a theater ever for me is The Shadow and I only payed a buck to see that.

I recently rewatched this, and strangely enough, I enjoyed Frye and Kitamura less than I did before. I still enjoyed them, of course, but they didn't click with me as they did when I first saw the movie. Takarada-sama impressed me more than before, though.

For all their brief scenes, Rodan, Anguirus, and Kamakiras were very well done. King Seesar and Kumonga, not so much. Zilla's CGI was more obvious to me, but at least he got to smash stuff and be aggressive.

I still can't stand Keith Emerson's score.

It probably doesn't deserve to be the 50th anniversary film, but it's good, silly fun, and I can't complain about that, even with the lengthy martial arts scenes. I was at the Hollywood premiere, and I'll admit that being there was so great that it might cloud my judgement, but I sill like "Final Wars".
