Out of the Millenium films, which Showa series actor had the best appearance, in your opinion? I decided not to make this a poll because a.) I'll probably forget to list an actor and b.) If you're like me, you definitely have more than one favorite. So, talk about the most satisfying roles you've seen our beloved kaiju veterans in.
For me, the most satisfying role would be Akira Takarada in Final Wars, because Akira Takarada is the man!

Seriously, the guy has incredible charm, presence, and acting ability. When Mr. Takarada is on the screen, his presence demands attention. His ability to steal every scene he's in is not lessened by age and he is every bit as luminous and energetic as he was in Godzilla vs. the Thing and Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. He eats up the screen, and thankfully, his role in Final Wars is much more satisfying than in Godzilla vs. Mothra '92. Instead of being there in the background, he's a major character. He even gets to work out his old trigger-finger again. Plus, Ryuhei Kitamura isn't afraid to take such a cherished actor and split his face open to reveal an alien inside! Akira Takarada is one of the shining sides of Final Wars!
Okay, enough gushing over Takarada-san.

I cannot fail to mention Hideyo Amamoto, who I will always remember as the toy inventor in Godzilla's Revenge, and who, as I first watched Atragon and Dogora on brand-new DVD's, proved to me to be a quite unique actor. How great it was to see him as Isayama the Prophet in GMK, where, like Takarada, he eats up the scenery. His screen-time is not long, but the role itself is quite important and the impression he makes with such little screen-time and such few lines is substatial.
Lastly, I loved seeing Hiroshi Koizumi in Tokyo SOS. To me Mr. Koizumi does not leave the same impression as the actors above, but he radiates warmth and compassion and I can't forget his calm and cool professor characters in Godzilla vs. the Thing and Ghidrah, the Three-Headed Monster. Having him reprise his role from Mothra in this film was simply ingenious, and he's an active part of the plot. Very, very satisfying to see.
