Animatronics would of been nice, but this goji was always in motion(not to mention the nice dark lighting of the suit) so it didnt really detract from the film. The flexibilty and fluid movements (the most realistic in the series to date) more than made up for it. Seems like a step forward to me.
As for the suit design, it's OK, nice and traditional, but could of been better, mostly in the head. The eyes are awsome though.

This was the best suit....of the Millenium series that is (sorry, but Mosu-Goji of the showa series and G91 are still the best imo). It did away with Frogzilla/Gonzo-zilla debacles of G2k, GxM, GxMG, and GSOS. And while I liked GMK's suit, it looked like it had a pot belly and the pupil-less eyes thing came off looking strange rather than fearsome at times.
Very nice body proportions...Godzilla looks slim, but yet massive at the same time. Dorsal fins were good (though they could have been just a tad big bigger...but anything beats the spiky crystal nonsense). I liked the face and eyes as it was quite mean looking, but one thing that bothered me is his mouth was too "wakasa-esque"....he has a horrible habit of designing faces with really bad looking/thin jaw lines. Also, the ears are just a little too big and prominant. I wish TOHO would bring someone else in to get a different take on Godzilla (like they did with GMK), because Wakasa's just can never get it right in the facial/mouth area and all of suits look *ODD* when viewing the face from the front.
It should be interesting about what they do if Godzilla 3D IMAX is a go (sorry, despite recent reports, I will wait until financial backing is set in stone before declaring victory)...will they use the GFW suit or will they make a new one?

IMO, the showa suit it resembles most is Shoshingekigoji (DAM through GIGAN).

While I like GFW, I didn't care for the G suit. The head design doesn't appeal to me and the overall build seems less massive than other suits, so Godzilla seems less powerful.
While I think it's the worst suit of the Millenium era, it's far from the worst suit of all time. That distinguished title belongs to the suit used in Godzilla vs Megalon.
