Final Wars: What was it filmed with?

I know this snuck up briefly in the dvd thread over in collectables, but I figure this little subtopic belongs here. As I watch all the extras on the R2 (An awesome set might I add, for fans AND non-fans.) the seven minute promotional clip shows a few things. One being the short snippets of cut footage not included in the deleted scenes, and the other being a substantial amount of raw footage in what appears to be digital format. You can tell by the pixalation etc. I'm very curious about this, and I think it'd make for an interesting discussion. If it was in fact filmed on digital video, it would make sense that much of the film has a layer of grain, as to disguise this. Many films that use either high def or digital media as a medium tend to be masked in grain to avoid making the movie look too clean.
Your thoughts?

I know for a fact that some of it must have been filmed using HD video because I recently saw the entire cast and crew listing in English, and it was referenced. I'll get back and post exactly what was listed. My feeling is that Asada's crew did much if not all of their work with this cam, and added "film look" filters later on.

Yeah, I think it was used in both the human and kaiju scenes. I mean, as I said before, it would certainly explain the grain filters.

I think about 80% of COLLATERAL was shot on HD, using two different cameras, a Thompson Viper and a Sony F900. The remainder (interior set shots, I think) were shot on traditional 35mm. "American Cinematographer" had a great story on all the gory details last year. In fact, , which I should re-read!
I was hoping that a credit to the company that provided the camera(s) would be cited, but haven't seen that. Strangely enough, the IMDb has the following listed for its tech specs:
Camera - Sony HDW-F900
Film negative format (mm/video inches) - Video (HDTV)
Cinematographic process - HDTV
Aspect ratio - 2.35 : 1
I usually take anything I see there with a grain of salt, but perhaps the whole production was HD?!?!
I should look at the "behind the scenes" stuff again, especially the motorcycle chase. There should be lots of good shots of the camera rig there.

imdb.com says it was shot digitally, but doesn't go into much detail.

Well, you could always chime in and share what you think/know it was, based on your experience. There are some here, myself included, genuinely interested in the technical aspects of filmmaking, regardless of the end result. Is it really that weird of a topic to you?
