Other thoughts:

I would have Godzilla come in at about 60 meters and the other kaiju at GMK-proportions as well. With the extra money, I would want the miniatures to be as big and detailed as possible. There are scenes in GFW where the smoke rising from destroyed buildings looks just like smoke rising from models. In GMK, the scenes of Yokohama on fire features smoke that has mass, that rises slowly and convincingly.

I would want Baragon to look and act about the same as he did in GMK, but be around for the climatic final battle.

In terms of overall look and feel, I would want GVA to look a lot like one of my favorite kaiju films, Gamera 2: Advent of Legion.

Can you imagine Tim Burton doing Godzilla!
He'd make GFW look like a serious movie.

The fastest way to ruin your movie career is to be invoved with a Godzilla movie. Even Toho won't touch them anymore.
I seriously doubt anyone with any kind of reputation would touch the subject. It's professional suicide.

I know this is a fan board. But sometimes the fan goggles get strapped on too tight.
No self respecting big budget director will ever be stupid enough to launch his career into the toilet by doing a Godzilla movie.
There aren't enough drugs in the world to make that big of a bad judgement call.

These films are silly, campy, low budget, odd ball freeforalls. We might like them that way. But they are not mainstream films. They are underground hits with underground audiences.
There was one and only one shot at making a good American G film. And they butchered it.
The American audiences will not forget that for a very, very long time.
You only get one chance to win them over. If you make a bad initial showing they will not come back, no matter how good the next one is.
The big American directors aren't stupid. They know this.

Godzilla in movies is death on a stick for anyone associated with it.
Look at Gamera. The last three were well done and serious films that made small profits with a small underground audience. So now they're doing a kiddie movie because adults don't care about Gamera movies either.

The only shot of doing anything popular with Godzilla is a T.V. show or an animated series with a smaller buget than a feature film.
And that's a risky investment too. Nobody cares about Godzilla movies anymore. Video games, horror, comedy, and outerspace is what people want nowadays.

Even though I enjoyed GFW, I would have preferred Kaneko been given free reign to direct a G film with the budget alotted for GFW the way HE wanted it done - not Toho. I can guarantee you that we probably would have seen something really and truly amazing. IMO, a Kaneko directed Godzilla vs Gamera epic would have been perfect.
