MY REVIEW

Where to begin...what hasnt been said about this film....

Well....My favorite performance was the time code in the upper left hand...

BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS.

Yes...it rips off just about every major Sci fi film....Yes...the Monster Battles are WAY too short...Yup the end battle is pretty great. The Ebirah vs the EDF is pretty badass and fun. Don Frye is HYSTERICALLY awesome. Minya is just weird and feels just thrown in the mix for the hell of it...not to mention is " voice " is WAY disturbing....etc etc....

I think its very obvious that GFW was edited to the point where some plot and pacing may have been drastically changed....but that hardly seems to matter.

The Music is TERRIBLE. Absolutely SHOCKINGLY terrible. Im a music snot...so I take it persoanlly when a film just has atrocious music.

Emersons score sounds excatly what you think it would sound like... an aging prog rocker...pretending to be hip, using ques from pop culture an sounds that have seemingly been plucked from gameboy. Theres NO drama to anything musically...its limp and sad and makes you cringe/laugh....it has a quasi porno/troma feel ...and I could go on , and on, and on...but I wont.

BUT heres the deal... this movie ...is a puppy

Its just does anything and everything to get your attention Its desperate for it. This movie SO wants you to love it...its just dosent care where it goes next, all it wants to do is make you happy.

I can get behind a movie like that....I think I'm deliriously in love with the movie....I love its flaws, and I love its success's...

Its no where near at bad as some want to make it.....Its fun. silly, stupid, flawed and fun.

Heres hoping its gets a real release soon

Well, Keith Emerson's not the best composer out there.....Heck, he's not even "good" or "alright".......He's just plain BAD. Why didn't they take a hint from the trailer and just use Immediate Music's themes instead of Emerson's "WTF!?" themes?

That's why I'm still wondering- Where did the GFW budget go if the CG was so-so, The soundtrack sucked on all levels, The acting was "oooookaaaay....." and the story was so trippy it'd be considered pointless if it wasn't for the kaiju themselves......Obviously Kitamura could'nt have taken most of it, right? Maybe the boy-band yakuza did......Who knows what they can do behind your back, right? :D

Okay. I finally saw this movie, and unfortunately, I didn't like it.

Oh, my gosh! This has got to be the second best Godzilla film I've ever seen! And no, I'm not on drugs, I was AMAZED! Blown away!!

The action.. the battles... everything, except for some of the music.

I for one am GLAD they did this for the 50th anniversary! I mean, it was very different, and people were worried about that. Guys, we always have to try different things, and yet, I'm glad about that, because... well, I was sort of getting tired about Godzilla himself in the Godzilla 90s-Tokyo SOS self, and I loved at how they made him a KNOCK-DOWN fighter!

The special effects, while I agree that some looked bad, didn't look as bad as I thought they would be! No movie ever has perfect special effects, remember that.

The kaiju battles were short, but SWEET!! Best kaiju battles I've EVER seen!

Some of the music were bad, but some were great! I actually enjoyed Sum 41's "We're To Blame" music when Zilla fought against Godzilla!

My final verdict on Don Frye: A! I even loved his "Aw, s***" line! However, I thought it was kind of funny that he understood Japanese.

The human action was better than I thought! Even Kitamura (the actor, not the director) did a better job as the Xilian leader, and I agree! He was over the TOP!!!! There was a lot of drama between the characters, and all of the battles they did was SUPERIOR!!

I loved the jokes, including "Sorry, I'm a vegetarian," and "I knew that Tuna-Eating monster would be useless!"

I noticed in one review saying that the explosions were cheesy. They didn't look cheesy to me!

Okay, the kaijus:

Godzilla: This is how I wanted him to be in the 50th Anniversary... big, mean, and a powerful creature! They did all of that! I was really rooting for him during the battles, and his Hand-to-Hand combat was amazing! And his red spiral ray was a lot better than the previous spiral rays! Good job, Godzilla!

Anguirus: Actually, he did a very good job! His attack was amazing, although it must be really painful to get smacked by Godzilla's foot or tail! And I went, "OOOOHHH," when he crashed into the mountain! But still, he gave out his best fight of his life!

Rodan: He really surprised me in this movie! I even liked it when he stood on the building, and we have a wonderful CGI shot of him roaring into the sky! I comletely grunted when after Godzilla was jumping to avoid getting collided by Anguirus, Rodan, and King Ceaser, Rodan and King Ceaser crashed into each other! OUCH! But still, he did a nice job here!

Manda: A shame that he didn't fight Godzilla, but he looked pretty good in CGI and a puppet. I was even surprised when he survived the lava!

Ebirah: He had a very good fight against the humans, but sadly, he did really poorly against Godzilla, but still, his design was really better than his Showa counterpart!

Minya: Actually, I thought he did okay. Not the best, but okay. I thought his smoke ring was better than his Showa counterpart.

Mothra: She's a fighter! She's a fighter! Man, is she a fighter or what? She once again took the show! Her battle with Gigan was awesome, and her origin on how she fought with Gigan in the past was amazing!

Hedorah: It really sucks for him to not get much screentime. His design was okay, but not too great.

Kumonga: Well, I thought he was quite more agile than his Showa Counterpart, and I was completely wowed when he was sent flying by Godzilla in hundreds and hundreds of miles!

Kamacuras: His CGI was great, but his puppet really sucks. I felt sorry for him when he died.

King Ceaser: His design sucked, but his moves were great! I actually laughed when he got furious, his ears rosed up, and he clenched his fists in anger!

Gigan: One word, UNBELIEVEABLE! His attacks and his design were really AWESOME! Finally, he gets the laser on his forehead!! I really felt sorry for him when he lost his head, twice. Ooooh! His character will always be one of my favorites when it comes to villains!

Monster X: He did wonderful! His design was good, and his attacks were amazing! Better yet, he knows psychic powers! WOW!!!

Keizer Ghidorah: He did amazing, too! His gravity bolts are the best in the Ghidorian history, and better yet, he almost killed Godzilla! Seriously, he could've been the first Ghidorah to actually defeat and kill Godzilla!

Zilla: He did better than I thought. Too bad for him that he had a short battle with Godzilla, but at least he was aggressive and not whimpy!

So, all in all, I don't care about the negative reviews anymore, because this movie ROCKS and it made me feel like a kid again! Great job, Kitamura (the director, not the actor)!!

Final Grade: A

Final rating: 10/10!

I'm putting this as the second best Godzilla movie behind Gojira. Unfortunately, that means I have to put G: TSOS as the third best Godzilla movie I've seen. Would've tied with Gojira if it weren't for some of the horrible music.
