I think one could really trim it down, probably to an hour and forty minutes or so. Any more than that might be a little too much.

So, the new X Plus figure has made me realize that this film kind of has a cool Godzilla suit. Not perfect, the jaws are too thin, the spines too small (but I kind of like it as a throwback to the 70s) but there's good traits, mainly the eyes, the suit's athletic build and the jet black skin color.

The movie itself still sucks though in spite of some cool suits (yes, the FW Anguirus is still my fave)

Maybe they were too human for some people, but i liked the arms on the FW suit. they had a good range of motion http://youtu.be/459H5QoQCZ8?t=2m14s (first few seconds of the clip starting where i linked for a good example)

I really never understood the hate for this movie. Personally, I love Final Wars as I love every Godzilla movie since each offers something different. No Godzilla movie is without it's flaws, and Final Wars has the same flaws that almost every Godzilla movie has. Bad acting, too much humans, not enough monster action, poor editing, bad special effects, weird music, lazy filmmaking, .etc. etc. etc. Almost every Godzilla movie suffers from these same flaws, but for me, the beauty of being a fan is either overlooking these flaws or accepting them and enjoying the movies for what they are...pure fun and joy.

I absolutely love and adore Final Wars, it has everything that I fan like me wants in a movie: monsters fighting monsters, mutants fighting monsters, mutants fighting mutants, spaceships fighting spaceships. I mean...what's not to love???   And best of all, this movie probably has one of the most baddass Godzilla ever!!

"This Godzilla guy is one tough dude!" LOL, I love that line!

Just re-watched it this weekend, and good lord was I bored!

And I have to agree with Legion, not every Godzilla movie suffers from the flaws buykaiju listed. I certainly wouldn't say that most of them suffer from "too much humans" or "not enough monster action" - if anything, I think some of them have too much monster action! But, overall, the issue with Final Wars isn't the ratio of human:monster scenes, it's that the ratio - for some of us - feels so far off, because of the uneven distribution of those elements over the course of the runtime.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

I still like this movie. Sue me.

Maybe I just commend directors who TRY things more than workaday types...ie, might Halloween 2 or Halloween H20 be better movies than Rob Zombie's Halloween 2? Certainly. But I like the movie that tries some new things.

Is GFW worse as a movie than various Godzilla movies? Probably. It's plot is perhaps less coherent and sensible than that of SpaceGodzilla, but I think a lot of the reasons people DON'T like it (ie, it feels more like a Kitamura film that also features Godzilla instead of a Godzilla film) are precisely why I dig it.

That and Don Frye. And the NYC pimp.
And the kid who looks like he has dookie all over his face.

^Oh, I certainly prefer seeing someone try something new (even if I don't like what they're trying) than do a completely hollow paint-by-numbers; that's why, as much as I dislike it, I've still watched Final Wars alone more times than I've watched Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS put together.
