This one kind of bores me to be honest. Not as boring as Godzilla 1985, but not terribly exciting either. In other words, this is clearly a Millennium film. lol

This film's musical score really hurt it (as it did with GvsSG)...it had a very cheap "straight to home video" quality to it that I despise. I'm not saying that a "good" score would have automatically made this a better film, but it definitely wouldn't have hurt. Hattori's work in general is just awful...he is to Godzilla music what Dos Santos is to Godzilla artwork....

Oddly enough, I really like G2K's soundtrack. I get that it sounds synthetic more often than not, but I think the actual compositions are really good. Then again, there are only one or two Godzilla movie scores I actively dislike.

As for the movie itself, I've only seen the US version, but I really enjoy it. I think presents some interesting ideas, and the characters hold my interest throughout. I still really like the last fight scene, too. My favorite moment is when Orga clobbers Godzilla in the face with his claw and sends him reeling back - I'll bet Godzilla still felt that one the next morning (not to mention the building that gets dropped on him). For me, it hits all the right notes as a Godzilla film. It's not perfect, of course, but it also doesn't feel like a rehash of earlier, better films, as some of the Heisei and other Millennium movies tend to do. I have fun with it. It helps, too, that it was the first and (so far) only Godzilla movie I saw in a theater.
