A very interesting look into the production of Ultraman Nexus, thanks. I revisited the series a few years ago, after falling in love with it back when it was airing in 2005. I still like it, but it hasn't aged that well. The defense team characters are kind of boring, the CGI fight scenes are awful, and the rushed ending hurts the pacing. Ultimately, I wish Tsuburaya was able to expand on its long-form narrative successes instead of regressing into nostalgia garbage like Ultraman Mebius.
How successful was Ultraseven X? That show was pretty great too.
