Very insightful interview, especially concerning the budget constraints of Godzilla X Mechagodzilla. I appreciate the effort that goes into these.

Interesting, especially his original plans for GODZILLA AGAINST MECHAGODZILLA.

I don't blame him for being jealous of Kitamura's budget, as he certainly could have done a lot more with that kind of money...

Can't say I agree with him on leaving suits and miniatures behind for good. The kind of low-budget CGI he's suggesting just isn't there yet, and there's some untapped potential in the old ways, especially if they're combined with clever CGI (including motion capture), more advanced animatronics, and more emphasis on lighting, atmosphere and camera-work/composition that can strengthen the FX.

I absolutely loved this interview.

I've been... um, let's just say more than critical of the three films made by Tezuka, but after seeing this I better understand just what he was going for and how it was a struggle to get these films made at all. Toho told him he could only destroy three buildings in Godzilla x Mechagodzilla?! The thing about the Millennium films especially is that they feel like especially enthusiastic people made them and struggled against insane time and budget constraints to express their vision and, in the end, were only able to accomplish a fraction of what they wanted.
