Interesting, but it doesn't take much online searching to find out that Toho is very protective of their trademarks when potential infringement appears.
Of course, there is also those times when Toho has been strangely silent. For instance, Cartoon Network's show Uncle Grandpa has a character called Mr. Gus.
Surely Mr. Gus must be determined to be at least as much as an infringement as Honda's "The Van Beckons" commercial from a few years ago that Toho at least started proceedings over.

I hate Uncle Grandpa, but from commercials it took a while to figure out what that thing was.
Maybe Toho just doesn't want to endure Uncle Grandpa.

Ok so mechahopzilla I could see coming a mile away, but the honda add barely even features a fire breathing monster you can't make out in it. That could as easily be infringing gamera (maybe even more likely) or a slew of other kaiju. Its a genre thing and its not even central or prominently featured in the ad. Toho is really overlitigious with that one. I'm still a little resentful of them taking down my music vids along with the entire Earth Baragon org from youtube years ago, having started with them over a decade ago on some really cool ones, while they allowed many low effort ones to remain, but I guess the problem was that we were practically like a business with no capital and maybe some of the vids like anguirusguy and EB's were too good for their own good.
Working in the field now I can see why Toho wants to avoid dilution with some of these and retain the ability to sell Godzilla's likeness to others, but that Honda commercial is just a waste of their time. As for uncle grandpa did the rugrats license Reptar?
