Does any one here remember the old WOR channel 9? They used to show King Kong movies all Thanksgiving day and then Godzilla movies the following day.
They started doing this in the mid 70's and it continued for the next 10 years as a holiday tradition. Here is a link to a site about it. It even has one of the promos that used to run during the Godzilla movies

It's a pity that WOR New york ended it. I wish another channel show King Kong movies during Thanksgiving and Godzilla movie on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

I remember when we first got cable tv back in 1980 how cool channels like WTBS and WPIX and WOR were. WTBS used to air Space Giants,Ultraman and Spectreman back then and WPIX had Star Blazers on alot and had Chiller Theater. I think WSBK ran scifi movies on Saturdays along with The Three Stooges. Now the only thing really worth watching to me on cable is ME-TV on Saturday nights for the scifi shows and BBC America for Doctor Who when it's new. I can't remember the last time an actual kaiju movie has been played on tv. What a sad state of affairs cable has become.
